    Oooh look, another mod.....
It applies the brakes for you if you wait like...1second to apply them. I had that happen to me back when I owned my 2021 Tacoma. I was driving to work and someone jumped RIGHT in front of me, while they were applying their brakes. My truck applied the brakes. Hard. Thank God it did it for me, because I was distracted and wouldn't have stepped on them in time. I avoided a collision. Now, I don't like driving nanny's, but that one saved my ass.

Also, you can turn off all the driving nanny's on your 4Runner. You can use the traditional cruise control if you want, just press and hold the button down for 3-5 seconds and it will activate. Then you won't have to worry about the truck speeding up/slowing down for you.

I have some of the driving nanny's on, but visual only, no audible alerts (like BSM).

Interesting. Our '23 F150 brakes for you too. And hard. You'll not want to repeat it, and it will definitely keep you from being distracted in the future!

So am I correct in that the LKA feature in our trucks does not gently nudge you back in the lane? Heck, my 2016 Prius did that. Did I not turn on an option in the settings, or it is designed to only beep at us?

I have a feature I've been using for almost 25 years - it's called keeping your eyes on the road and paying attention when you drive

I have mine turned off. I'm assuming that it would nudge you back into your lane. I could be wrong about the 4Runner though. It would make sense that it does nudge you back into your lane. I mean, that is what it's designed to do.

I had a 2023 Sonata for 3 months before I bought the SloRunner, and I had LKA on and that fucking car would FIGHT with me. A few times I was in the far right lane on the highway, taking the exit. I put on my turn signal, and there were no lane stripes to point out I was leaving my designated lane. The car fought me so hard and tried to jerk me back into my lane. After the third time it happened, I turned it off for good. Then I sold that fucking car as fast as I could.

I don't want the car to drive me. I want to drive the car. There are some driving nanny's on the Sonata that you CANNOT turn off.

I had been using an adapter to make my android auto wireless. I was distinctly under the impression that the Apple CarPlay was automatically wireless, but I haven’t been able to activate it and must resort to being wired. The dealerships only know how to make the infotainment system in the Highlander and those types of cars Work wireless.

I would take this iPhone 15PM back, but it is a complicated situation involving gifted money. I am not happy with the Apple keyboard interface, and its vocabulary is very dumbed down. it’s use of apostrophes and capitalization is poor at best. Definitely a sign of non-English speakers being their programmers. it’s not a phone for a person who knows how to take care of business jumping between apps to do multiple tasks simultaneously and who is verbose.

If they implemented Apple CarPlay like they implemented Android Auto, it only works for wired connection. The Bluetooth connection enables some, but not all controls that are available in Android Auto, so it sounds pretty similar.

The 4Runner is unable to nudge like newer vehicles because it has old-school hydraulic steering. Newer vehicles have servo driven electric steering boxes that can be computer controlled.

Something I have heard on an automotive YouTube channel is that a kill switch that can be remotely operated by our government and/or law enforcement lackeys is being mandated for all vehicles by 2026.

Sure, it would be great for a drunk driver... But we have seen enough incidences where law enforcement over reaches its authority and it appears that the law is not very specific leaving aspects open to interpretation.

I saw that too. government overreach at its best, and a great tool to hack an entire product line and hold them for ransom.

Not knowing how the mods and Google ads respond to political comments in this thread, I can say this much... In Marxist regimes and totalitarian governments, controlling the flow of people, through traffic limitations, vehicle limitations, social credit scores and other similar monitoring systems are all control methods. This is George Orwell as a 20th century Nostradamus.

Eh, I get where you're coming from. I think gov't mandated cutoff switches is overreach and a really bad idea - a lot of bad potential for the very limited good use they were probably mandated for in the first place.

But, I read a quote a long time ago that put all of my conspiracy theories in place. Either the government is some all powerful, conspiracy pulling off entity that has the ability to have the foresight to plan and execute that type of thing, or its full of a bunch of dumb people covered in red tape that can't get anything done as a result.

You can't have it both ways. As I get older, I tend to lean towards the latter

The adaptive cruise on Toyotas is just annoying. It will slam the brakes on when not needed, and at other times seems way too slow to respond. And, most annoyingly, shuts right off below 40 kph. Thats exactly when you WANT it to work in stop and go highway traffic. Adaptive cruise on my Chevy would work literally right to 1 kph...if it came to a complete stop, you pressed the resume button and away it would go.

It is better on other Toyotas. I drove a rental 2022 Sienna in Florida and it worked flawlessly in stop and go traffic.
