Anyone else having a problem with their Bluetooth? When we get a phone call we can hear the person calling, but, they can’t hear us. I read on the internet that certain Toyota models have this problem, but, not the 4Runner. I’m taking our 4Runner into the dealer tomorrow. Ours is a 2022 model with 34,000 miles on it.

    It works fine for me.

My setup: 2023 w/o JBL. I have an Android phone and it IS NOT connected to Android Auto or via USB cable into the head unit. There is no lag when using it or sound quality issues.

That stuff dont work. You have too many companies competing and who knows who is using the air waves now. Koreans are heavy in the market with their American steel Hyundas and Kias.

Borracho Loco, ours worked fine for the first 30,000 miles, now it’s not working.

What kind of phone is this? (iPhones always seem to have issues)
    Do other phones work?
Has your EndTune firmware updated recently?
Have you tried unpairing/repairing the phone in question?
Does the phone in question work in OTHER vehicles?

Borracho Loco, IPhone 14 pro. Works in our other car. Tried re-pairing and checked with the Toyota dealer, updates are all current.

Ah yes, the dreaded iPhone issues. When I was on the Tacoma World forum, that site was littered with this very problem. The 14, 14pro, 13, 13pro, etc.. Would not pair or would not stay connected.

If you have it connected or have Air Play turned on, turn it off and try again. Turn it off on the head unit AND the phone. See if that enables it to work?

Since it works in another vehicle, we know it isn't the phone that's broken, it's the head unit. Try pairing a new phone to the 4Runner. Preferably an Android device.

Complete opposite experience on my end. Told my extended family I was done messing around with their Androids and all the issues they had with them. They have all switched to iPhones and no issues.

For @Raptrlvr, did you recently update your phone’s software? What else has changed since it was working?

This is a good point. I know that Apple recently pushed out an update to iOS 17.0.3 (My work phone is an iPhone 13).

If you have an iPhone on a different iOS version, try that one and see if you get the same results

Kezin, no recent updates on IPhone. Worked perfect until we hit about 30,000 miles. I talked to Toyota on the phone and they think it needs a total reboot. Taking it in to Toyota today to see what they can do. They said Toyota is not aware of this problem.

I’m guessing they will do a hard reset. Which you can do yourself. Turn vehicle on to accessory, hold apps button and turn headlights on and off 3 times. Press INIT and confirm. Will reset to factory defaults and wipe everything you had saved

At the dealer now. Tech said it is a software update. They tried that and still didn’t fix it. Now he is checking the wiring and says there’s 2 open circuits, so, he is checking that. No one other than Toyota has done anything to this 4Runner. It is completely stock 2 wheel drive. It is still under the 36,000 mile warranty, but, if we don’t fix it now by the time we get back to NM, it will have more than 36,000 miles on it.

Dealer could not fix it. Says the roof console needs replaced. They gave me a receipt that will allow the work to be done once we get home to NM.
