Codes it's still throwing. I took apart and internally cleaned out the TB. It looked like a chimney flue full of soot. Attached pics. So I should bite the bullet an buy the entire TB assembly. If so, where do you recommend buying it?

Sounds like I need to buy the entire TB based on the codes being thrown. Do you recommend I get from Toyota? Also, I assume my TB is the same regardless of Turbocharger mount?

Yeah, this is similar to the codes I had. And looking online people fixed it like I did with an entire TB. Luckily Toyota has slashed the price. I paid almost $700. Looks like it's about $450.

And yes, I would recommend getting it from Toyota. The link I posted in a prior message above is for a discount Toyota dealer.

If it were my car, I would call the local dealer and ask what the part number would be for my VIN and then compare it to the part number I posted prior. Online databases are often WRONG. I call the dealer directly and get the part number from them. I then order online to save and supply my VIN. Then it gets checked twice.

You want a TB with that 62020 cast number like you have now.

The fact that your timing cover is hacked like that screams a dealer installed it. No way would Toyota be so sloppy. Watch the sc video I posted completely. I scanned it but still saw that the used the old TB. Looks like there wasn't so much as a mod to it either.

No they quoted me north of $700. Yes I called the Toyota dealer with my specific VIN no# and he quoted me the TB part no# 22030-62020, gasket part no# 22271-62050.
Open to recommendations if you think I can find the same parts somewhere, cheaper.

Look at my post number 2 where I posted a link to a discount Toyota dealer. Their parts are Toyota parts.

Your local dealer will definitely charge you $700.

Online databases are wrong. I hate that, it confuses everyone. If I run into this I call them and they almost always verify what I think I know. I have bought thousands of dollars of Toyota parts from these guys and they've given me great customer service.

Yes, it looks right. Parts geek won't be able to do any sort of verification against your vin as they aren't a Toyota dealer.

When you get it, check it completely against your current one. Make sure all castings and connections are the same.

Sir. Do you recommend buying the TB from Partgeek or toyotaparts.ourismantoyotaofrichmond.com? Partgeek has terrible reviews for CS, credit card problems, returned items.

I would use ourismantoyotaofrichmond...I have purchased a lot from them but they do have a restocking fee and I've never returned anything.

Thank you sir. I've called them several times and can't get anyone in parts to answer. Hopefully they'll call me back as I left my no#.

They won't let me talk to anyone. I have to order the part via online. The website shows the part no# I sent them won't fit my 4runner. I need to talk to someone to verify 1. The part no# does fit my 4runner, as it's the same no# on my TB, 2. That they have it in stock, 3. That I'm ordering the right part.

Hey Negusm. What about O2 sensors, both upstream and downstream? You know anything about these(maybe parts no#s)? Thinking I might replace these as well while I've got the 4runner torn down.

    Only get Toyota sensors.

You have to call Toyota for the right part number for your vin.

Some cars have O2 sensors some are a/f sensors.

2001-2002 mostly were af (air fuel) sensors but only the dealer knows.

When I replaced my TB and hooked everything back up, the car ran at a higher RPM for about 30 minutes and settled in to 700-800 rpm after driving for a while.

Bottom line, I didn't make a single adjustment to it. You shouldn't have to either.

Oh hell. Okay. Thank you. Now I know what to look for after I get everything hooked back up and fire it up. I would've never known.

P.S. By the way. I ordered the new gasket per my VIN through the Toyota dealer - doesn't look anything like the old gasket I just took off (btw TB and Supercharger).
Not sure if I should be concerned or not.

I forgot to ask, but hoping the new throttle body assembly that arrives tomorrow has a gasket with it?...............

At 1:04:24 he talks about the difference in gaskets.

As long as you have a full opening gasket, you should be fine. Or maybe use your old one if it is in good shape.

Gasket may have been redesigned over the years.

Yeah the one I got from the Toyota dealer yesterday is the one in the video he says NOT TO USE; it's D shaped and not a full circle like the one I removed when I took off my TB

I watched the video and overlooked the part about the gasket, brother. I listen to everything you tell me. I'd be screwed if I hadn't gotten your help. This shit works after I get the part and do the install tomorrow - Ima send your a$$ a gift card.
