That Frontier is a $500 truck that was desperately needed at the moment. Tacoma possibly in the future lol.

All I have left to do is PlastiDip from and back chrome bits. Weather not currently permitting.

    Looking good!
I just wrapped my front chrome trim black.
I am hoping it does not rain for the next 2 days. Bad timing but I am an impatient soul.
It says, it's going to be in early 50s tomorrow though.

You wrapped or had wrapped?? I’ve used PlastiDip a lot on previous vehicles but this one kinda scares me.

I just wrapped today morning. I plastidipped my rear chrome trim and it was a breeze. The front kept peeling off at the time of removing the excess. Pissed me off, so wrapped it. Let's see how long it stays.
Swapped the sr5 logo for some metal black pieces and changed the door handles to OEM black. Only the rear hatch garnish is chrome now.

Nice 4Runner! Enjoying following along! I also make the TX-VA trip a couple times each year, a great reason to have a 4Runner haha. How did you manage to black out the handles? I have the touch to unlock handles so putting on the covers would still show chrome in that touch area so I'm wondering if plastidipping them or wrapping them would interfere with the touch to unlock feature...

I wouldn’t dip or wrap. You have to handle the handles too much lol. I purchased covers from 4Runner Lifestyle. I previously bought a set on eBay and they were crap, returned them. IMG_2090.jpg Dirty but there one is.

(I am still figuring out how to get great pics of a shiny black truck!!! )

Really liking the blind spot addition

NOTE: if you purchase aftermarket make sure you get ones with the metal clips. This is the second set I bought due to first set not having them.

    RNR4P:

Those RAV4 mirrors work out great. Do they swap out easy?

I have a 2020 Tacoma with heated mirrors.

I assume your truck has heated mirrors.

If I installed RAV4 mirrors would they still heat.

By the way I drove a 2000 Silver Frontier.

    Older Frontiers are great trucks.

I actually haven’t figured that out yet, it came with the truck. I’m not overly impressed with it either.

Super easy to swap out and replace. These have the same plug in as OEM so I assume they will heat. Haven’t had the need to try them yet. NOTE: Make sure you get the ones with the metal clips on the back.

That appears to be the older TS10 from cartrimhome. A generic android tablet masquerading as a head unit.
Has all the features a phone with a sim card has but it's functioning is questionable and more suited to people that prefer a more handson approach.
They are quite popular among Toyota owners and have recently comes out with a newest version.

How is the sound quality on one of these? I am in the market for a new HU, and everything is on the table right now.

I think it would be good except I just learned my two front speakers are blown -- cracking and popping. I usually learn those things on long road trips because loud music is a requirement (TX to VA straight thru!)

Auto connecting to my phone is spotty at best. If I have it connected to, let's say maps, if I get out of the truck for a quick stop and return it doesn't reconnect at all. And now that I run around with my son who also has an iPhone 14 just like mine and has connected to it previously, the HU is just confused I think. I have to go into system settings to connect. I guess I need to learn to take the time to sit in my running vehicle before I go anywhere to get all hooked up. Seems like it should be easier. Maybe it's because it's an Android platform trying to run Apple play? I am not a tech wizard so forgive me if that doesn't make sense.

Yes, that's one reason because these Chinese android units do not work well with IOS.

You could always reset the unit and start fresh with pairing. They have a Facebook help page for all your questions and it's quite active and helpful from what I have heard. I think it's CTH 4Runner android head unit owners. But they let you join if the unit was bought from the website and not a third-party like rhino radios or Amazon.
I do not subscribe to the platform so have no first hand experience.
I have come very close to ordering one but I do not like to continuously tinkle with something that should be working from day one.

IMG_2168.jpg Got her covered up! It's going to be a tough one because of the ladder. I'm also using hyper dip and I've never used it before. It almost looks easier than regular dip. Fingers crossed. I probably overcovered her but I'm spraying black on black and I don't want to deal with the overspray. And yes my ladder is covered with cling wrap.

    TOMORROW WE DIP!!

I still have the fine cleaning to do- around the letters and in crevices. Hint: orange sticks are great at cleaning in the small areas.
