I have a 2022 trail edition with about 16k miles. When I am driving at highway speeds, there seems to be a type of shimmy such that I feel I am always correcting. I believe this may be a common problem but I haven't seen any threads with fixes. I am using the stock tires Dunlop AT20 GrandTrek. It has stock shocks. I am trying to decide if the tires and/or shocks could be causing the issue. Any thought welcome. This shimmy seems to be the only issue with my 4R. Thanks.

Unfortunately a fairly normal characteristic of this vehicle, there has never been a solid answer as to why. Toyota tech reps will even tell you it is a characteristic of the truck. Your best bet is to get a good set of tires (Michelin) balanced on a Hunter Road Force Machine with a finger plate adapter and a tech that knows what they are doing. Make sure the machine is calibrated before use and roll right into the bay with the tires warm.

Even after that it will come and go with temp variations and different road surfaces, then when you rotate the tires it will start again.

If it is not too bad, learn to live with it or sell the truck.

oem tires have fairly thin wall and deformed during parking making flat spot. thats why on delivery new cars have tires pumped to 50 psi. try higher tire presure and feel difference.

Balance and Alignment is your only option but will solve the problem in most cases.
Nothing wrong with the OEM shocks. Better tyres also help.

Yup, I can attest this method works. The sticker states 35 psi but the shimmy is a bit too annoying so I ran mine at 40 psi and vibration significantly reduced. Factory tire is Nitto Ridge Grappler.

The tires must be balanced to perfection or else i experience the same. When I get my tires balanced I always tell the technician in advance that close enough is not good enough on this vehicle and that they must be balanced perfectly or I get the wheel shake and will be back.

That's the first plausible explanation of heard for why overinflation by dealers seems so prevalent. My tires came at 48 psi.

Shimmy brings to mind like steering wheel vibration. Sensation of always needing to correct sounds like wandering. Try like 35psi cold (7am) if you're below that.

what is your dash psi monitor displaying at the end of a day of driving
