I usually refer to it as either 4Runner, Truck, or The Green Behemoth.

interesting! i'm considering my first 4Runner, but i live in a condo which has very restrictive rules about Truck registered vehicles. so i found this thread and feel comfy that technically SUV or crossover is a good legal fit for my er...truck to be!

i did find this searching the web regarding the issue: "In the state of PENNSYLVANIA a 4runner is classified as a station wagon". i guess i'll need to get some wood wax for the sides....

I use truck or 4runner. Saying SUV for a body on frame truck sounds a little weird to my ear.

I just call it my 4Runner. Before it, I owned two different Jeep Patriots and I’d call those either my Jeep or my Patriot. My other vehicle is a Mazda 3 and I call it car to anyone except my wife, then I say “the Mazda”

Truck. Trucks don't necessarily have a bed. It is different in Texas I guess. Back in the day, even full size vans had Texas truck plates.

I'm all over the place. When I'm at the grocery store it could be a car or an SUV. However, when I hear the engine running and I feel the ride, it's a truck. When I try to clean the windshield with the short-handled wiper at gas stations, it's a truck. When I rotated the 10-ply Wildpeaks with the OEM jack, it was a truck. When I can't maintain speed on a big uphill, it's a truck. When I have to go slower than the posted speed on a tight curve, it's a truck.

When my wife drives the 4Runner or Tacoma I say take that car or this car. I refer to them as trucks, but Toyota calls the 4Runner an SUV.

My dad used to love his dodge/chrysler vans. He had 3 of them....and it is just stuck in my head...."Get in the van". So I call my 4r a van from time to time. Brings me back in time and it reminds me of him. I missed the old man.

Crossovers are just cars trying to be something they aren’t.

even if it never does anything riglike with you, if it ever ends up in a junkyard, other rigs will come along and feast on and incorporate the tastiest bits of carrion

It's a truck because it has a frame. I use truck with people who know and 4runner for the clueless..
