    All-

Just got my new wheels and tires, and quickly realized that the OEM studs are way too short for the new wheels.

Spent the last hour down the rabbit hole and didn't find much searching on here. Surely I'm not the only guy who put aftermarket wheels on a 2023?! haha

I did find an article from 2010 that spoke of using ARP IS 300 studs, but before ordering wanted to make sure I'm on the right track.

    Thanks Gents-

    Dave

Here you go. Had this bookmarked from my 4th gen days:

ARP Wheel Studs On A Toyota - A Simple Solution (motortrend.com)

I'd look at the OEM part number for 4th gen studs and 5th gen studs and that should tell you if the ARP's will work.

Edit - just looked up aftermarket studs at the parts store for a 2008 and a 2021 4wd. Both Dorman and Duralast show the exact same part number for both years.

    Gents-

I appreciate the info, but not sure how this will help me. My aftermarket wheels when put on leave BARELY .25" of threads, which is unsafe. I need longer studs. How does the lug you both referenced make my lugs longer? Not being a smart @ss, genuinely asking.

@08TXRunner what you linked is the article I came across from 2010. I was hoping for "newer intel" but I will go with those and see how it comes out. Thanks

@MontanaMarine - I have to say in all the myriad of wheel threads I've seen over the years, yours is the first I've seen that mentioned aftermarket wheels that required longer studs. Did the place you got the wheels from say they would work on a 4R? That's just something I've never seen asked. Good luck with your search. You must be really set on them.

this is true. i’m having trouble imagining any aftermarket wheel that won’t work on standard length wheel studs. lengthened wheel studs is possibly a safety risk also.

is the center bore size for the wheels
known? anything smaller than 106mm will cause the wheel to not sit properly and have it seem like the wheel studs are too short.

Maybe this picture will help you understand. The black lug nut is extended thread

I think you should go ask the store about fitment and see what is required.

It’s likely going to be extended lugs.

    Good luck!

i can’t see how extended wheel studs are required when looking at the picture of your wheel. the lug nut seats are far enough in where a decent amount of thread should be exposed.

Lucky me….I agree. This was not expected at all. I purchased from custom offsets-both their website and sales rep confirmed fitment, and when I went to put the front right wheel on there was barely enough stud to even start the lugs.
Not sure what to do, as I don’t want anything that could make it less safe or strong.

It might seat more flush inside the wheel so then the screw can be at proper length.

if it’s a matter of the wheel not seated properly then it’s a center bore problem.

    **Update

I attempted to remount, and found several contributing factors that had me believing something was wrong....

I didn't put the hub centric rings on initially,

The lugs I have do in fact travel "inside" the wheel farther than I thought,

and finally, I measured the amount of threads exposed with stock wheel on, and then with aftermarket wheel on, and it was very close.

So I guess I took a dummy pill yesterday and became frustrated too quickly and didn't think it through.

Indirectly, you all did assist me, by making me re think and re do the process. So thank you all.

Those ARP studs for Lexus IS300, are the correct longer studs. I installed those but had to cut them shorter before installing which was a pain. Very strong material grade compared to OEM. Also, not all wheels have the through hole big enough to use extended thread lug nuts.
