Okay, I know that the tire pressure readout doesn't pop up RIGHT away, it can sometimes take a few miles to register pressure, but I've driven my vehicle for 30 miles now and it still hasn't shown up.

Now, I did get new tires immediately. Maybe they didn't re-install the TPMS? Has anyone had this happen to them?

    Sorry, I’m no help.

When I got new wheels and tires on my 2015, the shop had to “ping” TPMS to get it working.

I’ve since replaced the wheel/tire setup again, put in new TPMS. it worked until my 1st rotation. I never bothered to fix it. I rotate my tires frequently and air down/ up often enough, so I comfortable with ignoring the idiot light. :anonymous:

    Thanks. I found this thread/post: https://www.4runners.com/threads/reset-tire-pressure-sensors.31570/#post-449904

I'm going to try that tomorrow before I start on my daily commute to work and see if that resolves it. In theory, it should.

TPMS aren't removed for new tires. Or they shouldn't be.

But, aren't they somehow linked to the valve stem? I know that my wheels with TPMS sensors have different valve stems than my wheels without them.

Or, do the valve stems not get removed when changing tires on TPMS equipped wheels?

Sorry, I don't actually know what they look like on the inside. :notsure:

@Borracho Loco what do your valve stems look like?

I don't see the picture. Is it in another thread?

I can't tell by the pictures, but I'll call Discount Tire when they open today to remedy this situation. Thanks for your guidance everyone.

Update: I called them, and the guy I just spoke with, was the tech who was over seeing the installation of the tires on my 4Runner. He said "Yeah bro, I remember you. I made sure all the TPMS went on all tires because I was really checking out your new ride."

So they are installed. I'll try the reset method again before I start my commute from work to home and see if that finally does the trick.

Look at your valve stems. They should be aluminum and have what looks like a nut at the surface of the wheel. If you see that, the sensors are installed and just needs an initialization which is in the menu on the dash display.

Thanks for the tip. I am 90% sure the aluminum tips are there, but I'll double check again here shortly. I plan on resetting the TMPS before I start my commute home and see if that does the trick.

Update: The stems are all the same, but I did notice that two caps were aluminum and two were black. Not a big deal, right? The stem's are the same, and that's all that matters. I took a picture of each wheel. Someone tell me if I missed something.

I remember I did the procedure I found in manual to initialize sensors but tire pressure registered after a couple of days when I drove over 60 miles on highway. City driving didn't really work for me. maybe because of frequent starts-stops or interference from other cars.

Mine takes a couple minutes to register. I am still on OE wheels and tires.

Update: I took the SlowRunner back to Discount Tire, the guy scanned it and the left rear tire wasn't reading. He said "When one doesn't read, none of them read."

They took the wheel off and the tech told me that when it was installed they shattered the TPMS. They didn't break it or crack it, it was demolished. He showed me, and it was in a hundred pieces. Well, it got replaced (for free) and the low tire warning light hasn't gone off, yet.....

But it should after I drive it for about 20-ish miles. God I hope this resolves the problem!
