285/70R17 fit on a stock 2018?

i was wondering if 285/70R17 Goodyear Duratrac w/ White Wall Out would fit on stock 2018 toyota off-road premium wheels, as well as not lifted.

 

No, they will not fit stock without major rubbing issues. Most people put on 2-3 in lifts to accommodate that tire size, and even then, they will most likely have to do CMC and/or wheeloffsets

 

Your rear tires will fit, the fronts will not. You will have to get wheel spacers for the UCA rub, ditch the mud flaps, modify the fender liner and do a cab mount chop as mentioned above.

 

What if i was to install a 2.5" lift kit (toytec boss Lift Kit)

 

You would still have to do what was mentioned above, i run 285/70/17 with a 3in lift, there is no way that tire size will fit stock, with a 3in lift and TRD Pro rims however a spacer is not needed

 

Some People run that size with a 2.5-3" lift workout issues, some have issues, depends on tires I think. The duratracs aren't exactly a squared off tire so you may be alright after some minor mods

I have a 2.5/1.5 on my 2016 trail and run 275/70/17 ko2 without any issues on stock wheels

I guess what I’m looking for is the best bang for its buck wheel/tire set. For after I lift it with a toytec boss lift kit.

 

Your going to want to stick to certain rims that follow specific mesurements, you will notice most people use the same certain brands of rims, more people will have experiance with aftermarket rims, i just went with TRD Pro. Now for tire size i would think one size smaller 275-70-17 would have no issues, but i would wait for someone who runs that tire size to chime in on their experiance i only know about 285-70-17

 

What if i grabbed TRD Pro Rims, what tires would i use so that they wouldnt rub.

 

275/70.

 

275 and if you want FN makes a similar rim to the TRD Pro and other rims made for our trucks.

I'm looking for one that's good for daily pavement driving, as well as the occasional off road. something better than the stock tires? (im assuming the stock tires arent really made for off roading)

Yeah, what 4X4Runner said. I've been using BFG AT's since the late '70's. Great all around tire for on and off-road. I live in the mountains so the mileage warranty isn't a concern of mine. I have tried Goodyear Wrangler AT, Yokohama, and even some ProComps with not so satisfying results.

I set mine up my TEP on stock suspension with 275/70 KO2s and the Six Shooters. Dustin specifically advised against the type X due to their more aggressive offset, when I told him I wouldn't be lifting anytime soon. This negative offset pushes the wheel out further, which means your scrub radius increases and you are at more risk of rubbing.

Even with the more conservative offset, the Six Shooters are lightly rubbing on the flaps during turns (they didn't before with stock Trail wheels). I massaged them a bit with a heat gun, but I need to pull them back since they still rub slightly.

Six shooters and 275/70s are about as big as you can get on stock suspension without doing major clearance.

 

So if I don’t want any rub I could go 265/70 instead of 275/70?

 

I just installed 285\70\17 duratracs today with the TRD wheels with just a 3" front 2" rear spacer kit. Looks great and on occasion get a little pop at full tilt and reversing. Not sure which lip of fender its hitting sometimes? front or rear but I dont care. Ill tweak fender lip a little for now. Just waiting on my addicted offroad front bumper and it won't matter anymore.

has anybody tried 285/65/17? maintain the same radius as stock, but increase the width. Do you still need to chop pieces off?

 

I know this goes against everything I’ve read but I have had zero rubs on my 2018 TRD Pro with KO2 285/70/17. Stock! I’ve been driving for days and cannot make it rub. Guess It’s an isolated case? Everyone was telling me it’s going to rub, I even ordered suspension risers but looks like I don’t need them.

 

This is my second fifth gen 4Runner with 285/70/17 tires installed at stock height. After the typical minor wheel liner, bumper and mudflap mods, both have performed just fine - no rubbing. BTW, the first one was an LE and my current version is a TRDORP. The current one is on stock 7.5 inch rims and the LE had 8.5 inch if I remember right.

I have a 2018 TRD ORP with stock wheels. I've been debating to lift, not to lift, what lift, etc. But, at the same time, would love to upgrade my tires. I thought about getting 265's, but am pretty sure I'd regret it in a few months, and not ready to spend $2k to $3k on the lift I want. Seems like minor rubbing if I stick with the stock wheels and go 285/70/17. What does that mean exactly? Can I drive it home from the tire shop / dealership and sort out what adjustments I need to make to fenders, etc? Or, is the rub so bad it will do damage? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
