Posted my 2014 HD FXDC on Craigslist and got 3 scam replies immediately

WOW just posted my 2014 HD FXDC on Phila. Craig's list & already got 3 scammers 2 email, the other text. Unreal these people must think everyone's an idiot to fall for their crap! I hate trying to sell stuff for this very reason & to trade it I would be taking too big a hit for my liking, but I just may have to.
My 2018 4Runner TRD OR is coming in @ $29,+++ for trade in. Not sure I want to try & sell it my self? I'm gonna wait till spring depending on my Co. decision on keeping me working remote.

 

Selling it to an individual can net you more profit, however you have to deal with the knuckle heads out there, and deal with all the lookie-loo's. By selling it to a dealer, you'll get a lower price, but you'll pay less for TT&L, because you won't be financing as much.

 

Sell it on facebook. I know many don't go on it but I use it just to buy and sell stuff.

I sell stuff on Facebook 10x faster than Craigslist.

 

Have it on market place, not one offer Reposted on my pg still nothing don't understand???

 

Maybe asking too much or ad sucks.

Yeah I wouldn't post here. It's a HD Just venting because people are such!!!! when it comes to trying to be decent ,honest selling something. I don't crap,junk & I usually just trade for this reason

It sounds like you added your phone number to the listing?

If so, that's a no no.

Do the "secure" email option that doesn't allow them access to your actual email address.

As you filter through the serious replies via secure email, you then ask them for their phone number.

 

I’m not sure how Craigslist is still around. FB market place will yield some bullshit, too, but that’s where you’re more likely to find a real buyer.

 

Yeah in other stuff I sold (very little) I never had Ph #, somehow I missed it on this. I blocked all scammer's #'s The pic is just crooked on here from my scan.

 

Always happens to me on Facebook marketplace too, scammers are SCUM!

 

Unfortunately Craigslist is a good harvesting ground for scammers.
Would suggest creating a temporary email for posting adverts that's not linked to any banking accounts/Zelle etc.
Also maybe create a temporary secondary burner line through your cellular provider.

Sold through Craigslist before. Cash buyers. Also a lot of low ballers. Trying to buy and resell for profits.

 

Not that this has any bearing on scammers or not - but come on OP, if you want to sell something for $12,000 maybe take a minute and organize the ad with a categorized list of accessories that's not a run on sentence, and fresh pictures and a lot of them from every angle including odometer and without random dude's crotches in the frame. Does it have a clear title ready to go or is there a loan? Condition of wear items such as tire, fluids, etc? Brief maintenance history or reference to maintenance history being complete and available.

I threw that together for a lady friend to take to RMC (supposedly oldest bike club in US ) Yeah I can make a much better ad.
Oh on the unrelated, between work, ATV, boating (Sold boat through dealer <%15 so I didn't have to deal W/BS worth it) shooting, other life duties. I do not have a lot of time for riding & yes I am a fair weather rider. @ 16 I had my cycle license & from April till the following April I rode here in Eastern Pa. cold, rain even in some snow showers( cause W/dirt bike rode all the time) then bought my 1st car. Ever since then, nope it's just a toy and not a life style for me. Going back to CBR1000RR more my style of riding.

 

Funny things is I've haven't had offers/Lo-ballers even? I don't need to sell it BUT the wife wouldn't be too happy W/2 bikes in garage especially the HD which I don't ride. Time will tell, eh!
