There are two coolant lines that enter into the firewall near the driver side of the vehicle. I am assuming those lines provide the source for heating the interior cabin.

My question is "Is coolant flowing through those lines at all times, or only when the cabin heater is on?"

Thanks in advance for the help.

Interesting question, what do you plan on doing with them?

In the olden times there was a valve on one of those hoses in the engine compartment. A lever on the dash pushed a stiff wire that operated the valve.

These are the the lines for your heater core inside of your cab for your interior heat.
    This is the way.

I know. I just need to know if coolant is always circulating through those lines.

Was looking at installing a heat exchanger to heat water.

I think all cars now. It’s to avoid stagnant coolant and leak issues. My GTO has a heater valve that likes to die but then blend doors like to fail on the cars that don’t use a valve. There’s no win. :bananadead:

My first car was an Oldmobile Omega. The heater valve died and coolant leaked into the passenger floorboard. i lived in S. Florida, so my solution was to bypass the heater.
