Anyone guess how much a 'merging nos' tuning job would cost?

Has anyone ever had a mild and consistent nos setup on a daily driver?!?

They're just making jokes. Don't take it seriously. It's not a legitimate idea.

It's good this is a supercharging thread. Seems like we'll have a nos thread eventually

It is, but it's just a tire shredder even with drag radials. And that was with the Trinity blower, when it ran 10.38 @ 139. It now has a Whipple 4.0 with about 100/100 more than that dyno. As in, the blower has the same displacement as our 4Runner engine :D

I didn’t say anything about the HP increase vs cost. My point was 30% is a large HP increase and not at all modest.
Is $7500 expensive of course it is!

If it were my money I would much rather Regear, lockers, tune and spend the rest
    on suspension and tires.

This is a good thing to consider. I haven't looked that deeply at this kit. But, an upgraded fuel system is easy to overlook when you're adding power. And, an insufficient fuel system is about the fastest way to wreck a motor.

$7500 for a regear, tune, suspension and tires would be pretty tight! Unless you're going with budget options.

I saw a video a while back of a youtuber that boosted his 5th gen. It was not a magnusson, it was a bit more homebrew and he was working to making his own tune too. He blew up the engine (broken hard parts) while doing a dyno run. I wanna say it was broken wrist pins. Lemme see if I can find that video…

No budget options lol anything after Regear and front locker would get thrown towards suspension and tires. Although the Regear group buy on this forum right now is a damn good deal I looked into 5.29’s and front and rear air lockers with the dual arb compressor for my 2019 sr5 Tacoma and it was a good bit less than I expected. Just not sure yet if I will have the time to drive to socal from western Washington. Otherwise I would have scheduled already.

Get Whipple supercharger at URD. It gives much more power than Magnusson. The only reason why I can’t get a Whipple is I’m in CA and it’s not CARB certified

It’s a Whipple blower on a URD manifold, not a Whipple made kit.

    Procharger makes a kit themselves.

I also wonder if that's why the output is lower than other kits. Maybe they figured out what the safe capacity of the stock fuel system is and tuned this kit accordingly.

Are you planning on doing the work yourself? That's a factor I didn't consider originally.

Did something change with our ECU's after 2019/2020? Or, does tuning for the newer models require recalibrating the TSS or other safety nannies? Otherwise, I'd think that anything that works for the earlier 5th gens should work. But, I don't know enough about this stuff to be sure.

I believe the issue with 2020+ was a different ecu encryption which has since been cracked.

Magnuson has stated the kit was designed around the stock fuel system. Other kits, and people with the Magnuson setup, have upgraded their fueling system to support higher power levels.

Of course yes. I don't know shit about this engine but most certainly magnussen using the stock injectors is the limiting factor. They very much kept it low gains so pretty much anyone can install this thing. That means more people will buy it.

It also means that the people who want more power can go get it on their own. For other vehicles it means a new fuel pump, (maybe) new fuel lines, new fuel rails, fuel rail loop, radiatot, perhaps tranny cooler since its going to have to worm harder too. Going to want to upgrade the brakes too so we can stop better.

There's another factor as well. If this was a tuner car there'd be a lot of people after the most HP or the best 1/4 times etc and you'd have a lot of blown up engines. Many people would have contributed to a lot of knowledge as those engines leaned out and for example we found that cylinder 6 doesn't get enough fuel and detonated unless we upgrade to fuel system a certain way. Or the the bearings go. Maybe the weakness is the rods or pistons. But ultimately it's only worth doing so much because people value the reliability and that's going to go out the door which is ok if this were a drag car. But it's not.

So magnussen kept it tame and reliable and easily adoptable for as many people as possible. Larger audience to sell to.
