Hey all, I am looking for the best option for a roof rack. Looking for either a full roof or half roof set up. Not sure what would look/work the best. I have a cargo box and max tracs currently and do not really wanna put a roof top tent back up there. Gotta be honest, more for that bad ass off road look. With or without a lights. Any and all pics would be helpful.4runner2.jpg

I think first question is if you prefer a look - low profile or basket. How you intend to use it. I am very happy with build quality of Bajarack 1 piece welded steel construction. Basket and lots of easy anchor points for strap tie downs/gear was important to me.

I have the nFab half rack because I didn't want to cover my sunroof. It uses the existing rails as a frame.

+1 for Sherpa Crestone. A full rack will give you more options for mounting. Sherpa did just release Crestone Sport which is lighter and costs a little less than the Crestone.

A bit off topic, but how did you currently mount your cargo box & maxtracs? That looks clean!

I'm always debating a roof rack myself...when I finally pull the trigger, I think I'll go with the Gobi Stealth fitted with a multi-light setup. Fits the lines/style of the 4runner best, keeping a classic look IMO.

Sherpa. I got mine for 895 right around Christmas. Almost broke my leg running to get my credit card. Couldn’t be happier

I went with a Yakima Megawarrior because I like the look of a basket, and I wanted something removable. I used angle channel and carriage bolts for a stronger attachment to the OEM side rails. I'm pretty happy with it.

I used the factory rack, took a Ubolt through the bottom of the box to both cross bars, then sealed the holes back up with silicone. ‍♂️ worked on my truck and I just moved it to the 4Runner for storage until I get a better rack. Same with the max traxs (minus needing the silicone lol)

Gobi rack is probably the best "looking" rack on the market if you want to look like you shoot game animals for a living.

Did you have to drill the roof for that Gobi? I ask because of the bolts on the front bracket?

I haven't seen many photos of Gobi from that angle. Are those 2 top braces limiting for larger items? Like a pelican rifle case for example.

I have a prinsu, the Gobi rack is a stock photo. My friend has one he has his RTT on. There is no drilling with the Gobi (At least he did no drilling to his rooftop. He had a TRD Pro basket stock), it comes in one solid piece and there are feet at the front mike many of the other racks.
