Can’t open trunk - keyless entry

So I removed my garnish to paint it and was sure I plugged everything in before closing the tailgate back down. Well now I can’t open the *astard.

Is there some sort of trick to open this think? Window down function doesn’t work either so I clearly forgot to plug something in. But what?

Help, lol. Is there a emergency release somewhere?

 

Look on the panel of the hatch for a square cover. Remove it, there should be a manual release in there. At least that is where mine is on my 2020.

 

Luckily I didn’t reinstall the plastic cover plate.. the 2 plugs I removed I didn’t plug in. Total knob. Anyways all works. Just crawled in through the back and pulled the vapour barrier down and plug it in and voila.

 

Do you have a picture of this? The only square access panel on mine is under the pull strap and that's just basically a bolt cover. I've had the entire panel off several times on projects and I've never seen a manual release, and your post is the first I've seen referencing such a thing. I have a 2019.

 

This is what I found when I was frantically searching how to open the gate. Did not try it as my plastic piece was off and like I said I just plugged in my connectors and was to open it the proper way without testing the manual release handle as in the below thread. There is apparently a white box that hides the handle.

 

Damn that's good stuff. A little more complicated than just removing a cover but still useful info for sure!

 

This procedure is for a Gen4. Is the Gen5 similar enough to it?

 

My '16 Limited had that white box inside the hatch also. I did notice it while I was poking my head around in there and spraying rust inhibitor.

Interesting! It would be nice to make some sort of extention to that lever. Too bad it seems so buried in there. I wonder if that cover is necessary to protect the latch actuator from the elements (since it’s behind the valor barrier.
