Also a good reason. And I also don't care to advertise that I've got a pro model or anything special. The C pillars look so clean without badging.

I need to look at some pictures of de-badged ones. I think they're just on with 2-sided tape. I suppose I can always put them back on if I want.

Took mine of with a heat gun and dental floss. Microfiber towel wipes of residue pretty good.

Ahh, the rare "Bronco" edition.

That's the opposite of de-badged right there.

I took mine off with dental floss (not Glide) and a hair dryer. Then alcohol . on a cotton pad took off the leftover sticky. I put the badges in a ziploc and stored them in case I feel the need to put them back on. My truck is silver, but when I took them off the paint was perfect, as if they were never there. I’ve had my truck for almost a year and a half.

I de-badged it and then put a decal on the front hood scoop to help with the glare, and bought the one with TRD Off Road on it. I like the red lettering on the black decal. If I’d left the badges on, I feel like it would have been too much.

if you do remove them, take a picture so that if you change your mind, you know exactly where yours were.

    Wait…is that Toyota? I can’t tell.

Also, airbrushed horses on the side? You know this is the guy that walks into a party with some Wild Turkey 101 and the cops are called 17 minutes later.

Looks like my 2003 Prerunner. I put Bilstein 4600s on mine and am happy with the ride.

i have Pro wheels and i wrapped the bumpers black because it looks better, just trying to make it look better not trying to turn it into a Pro...
i agree with Accelerator 100% - the build up is fine - the badging makes it stupid

If you didn't care whether people had whatever badges, why should you care if they didn't use their 4R the same way you do?

It's like when people whine about others who keep their traction boards on the roof all the time. Mine live up there all summer, usually. Why should I take them off just to put them back on in a few weeks?

I think it depends on how you like to offroad.

If you're rock crawling or on slow moving trails, KDSS is an advantage. It also has its advantages on the road.

I think the Pro offers an advantage on faster, desert style offroading (not that you need a Pro for this because you could outperform a Pro in an SR5 or non-KDSS OR with some quality adjustable coilovers).

Personally, I like the fast stuff :mudding:

I enjoy seeing what others do to make their 4R the way they like it. I also appreciate seeing how folks have come up with solutions that suit their needs or wants.

I don't give any energy to criticizing others choices. It's their choice and just a waste of negative energy on my part. I don't need to feel better about my choices by disagreeing with someone else's choices.

There have been criticisms of some of my mods. It did not change my opinion of my mods or why I did them, because my mods suited my tastes and needs.

So be happy with your 4R and make it the way you like.

The efforts all of you have shared have helped me tremendously in my 4R improvements.

Maybe one day we can organize a nationwide 4Runners.com gathering. It would be great to meet you all.

i feel like anyone looking for a serious off road vehicle will want to build it themselves - doesn't make sense to pay extra for stuff that you will end up replacing

Are the different trim packages associated with the VIN? So would the original trim level show up in a title search if some shady person was trying to sell an SR5 as a Pro? Never really thought about that and am now just curious.

They come to the US as debadged ORP's. The stickers, decals, wheels and shocks are slapped on after they arrive. That's also why it's a good idea to get an alignment on a new PRO.

The only real way to tell if it’s a pro from factory for the current years (at least in the US) is the dual climate, and auto headlights. Everything else on an ORP can be added and turned into a pro I believe ?

I see! Din know it was that much crap that gets slapped on. JC is always watching, especially at the ports!
