While I always wear a seatbelt, that chime is a real PIA when removed at low speed, parking lots, neighborhood, etc. etc. I haven’t seen a YouTube vid that addresses turning it off with the 5th gen. If the Carlita can do it for $40 w/out a subscription I would try that. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I do not know what situations necessitate driving with no seat belt, even at low speeds but that is just me. What about just buckling it up behind you? Easy and effective!

I don’t ‘drive’ without a seatbelt… When you work as a law enforcement officer for 33 years you train to remove the seatbelt in very low speed situations…parking lots, etc. so as not to be restrained when you may need to exit immediately. I can cite several situations where this is prudent, not just for law enforcement but for the average citizen as well, but I made the post seeking information for nixing the chime, not a safety lecture. I’m pretty well versed on how to present those.

Get the Carista and then cancel the $10 subscription after 1 month. It is blissful not to have the chime.

Carista can turn it off. Just get your settings in during the first month and cancel

The Carista app does turn them off. At least up to 2020 - check their site to make sure it applies to your year truck.

Just out of curiosity in what situation is it "prudent" for an average citizen to remove their seatbelt while the vehicle is in motion?

And is that not a violation in states with seatbelt laws?

True. I keep my seat belt at parking lots and on trail. I don't even notice that I'm wearing it. But OP "made the post seeking information for nixing the chime, not a safety lecture." :D

Moving around your own property. Moving around your farm. Backing into your driveway to load things up. Backing up to hitch up your ski/boat/trailer. Need more?

And no, none of those are "violations" of state laws.

I think once I may have exceeded the posted speed limit.

The app can also enable you to roll the windows down with remote. To cool the car. Canceled after trial.

I've never really checked but can you unplug the seatbelt connector somewhere underneath the seat? I've done it on older gen 4Runners.

    Also, it is a setting your dealer can customize. Check PDF in link from other forum;

How does that relate in any way to seat belt chimes? Which was the OP's question.

"Backing into your driveway to load things up. Backing up to hitch up your ski/boat/trailer."

    Interesting.

The seatbelt chime doesn't sound in my 2015 SR5 until I get above 15 mph.

You're getting chimes when backing up to hook up a boat?

Yes. Are you going to continue your safety scold with me too?

What about the other scenarios that I presented?

Get Carista like the others said, if it works on the 23. You can do some cool shit with it and I tweaked maybe a dozen settings to be more to my liking with it including the seat belt chime, then cancelled the free trial, then sold the dongle for what I paid for it, so my net investment was like $2.

After a few miles, the chime will stop.
