Im stuck between ordering the Ultimate lift and this one that is $300 less but still uses Bilstein shocks, whatd the difference and which is better performance wise and why??

The only real difference is the first one is adjustable. If you can swing the extra $160 bucks, I'd say go for it. You will be able to adjust the front ride height to you liking.

 

Ok thanks, leaning towards Bilstein 5100 lift now! Do i get a better feeling ride with it?

Yes, definitely. If you have the funds do it right the first time.

 

The ride quality will be the same with both. For $160 and the added adjustability its worth the Toytec Ulitmate kit. You also get relocates for the sway bar and rear bumpstop spacers which are needed for proper suspension cycling onroad and offroad. Call up Toytec Lifts today and dial extension 103. Talk to David. Them him " Gramps sent me" and he will take care of you.

Note while the diff drop isn't necessary as noted above, it does help with CV axles angle which helps boots last longer typically. Down side to it is that it might no work with some aftermarket skid plates.

 

I am happy with my Ultimate without UCA's. I also got the 700# front springs for the extra weight of the winch and bumper.

 

Had the ultimate on my FJ Cruiser and really liked it, wheeled the crap out of it and it held up well. Didn’t do the diff drop though.

 

Increasingly, Im finding guys at shops that say a front diff drop is worthless. Changes the angle that it sits as the rear is left in place - and is more harmful than good in the end. Thoughts?

 

From where the diff drop sits compared to the new angle it gives the CV's, it doesn't do much.

 

Agreed. It didn't do much on my 08 FJ either. Didn't even bother installing it when I lifted my 14 Trail. I had it on my FJ for a short while, but when I started shopping for skids I did some more researching on them....hence it's removal.

Honestly, I think it sells because guys 'think' they need it and it allows manufacturers to tack on $30-40 more to the lift kit prices for $5 worth of materials.
