Purchased the black out lettering from Nox Lux , very happy with the purchase . Very good quality and a very easy install . A little pricey but worth it for the look i was going for and not having to deal with a plasti dip application . My 1st mod to my vehicle , it is a simple one but you gotta start somewhere , lol . 20180213_163718[1].jpg 20180213_163554[1].jpg

They can be found for $84 on Amazon. It's weird theres two listings, one for $99 and $84 but its the same product from the same company.

i ended up going directly to Nox Lux to get mine . The full set included both Toyota emblems (small & big ) , both side pillar TRD OFF ROAD emblems and the 4RUNNER lettering on the back hatch . Total cost was $129 . Be careful if you order from somewhere other than Nox Lux , some sites don't include all pieces .

It is tape , each letter of the emblems has a small strip of tape . I cleaned the ones on the vehicle first to get good adhesion . They seem very secure . I believe if you go on the Nox Lux website they have pictures of the back of the emblems to show how they are put on .

I took a slightly different approach to my 4R ...1) The side badges are gone. 2) On the back, so are the letters 4RUNNER. I let my license plate speak for itself - Clay

Would any of you black out the TRD Pro logo on a black 4runner? I was debating if I should just do the back logo.... Not sure I want total black out. What do you think? is some contrast good if going for a black out tactical look?

Look on eBay, I got a set for under 70 from a Toyota dealer. Used one of those 20 percent off eBay coupons. Think my total was 64 shipped.

What about blacking out the stock OEM rack bars? Mine are currently silver/grey. Would like to do black vinyl wrap?

I had my silver roof rails painted, really easy to remove. You can rattle can them or drop them at a body shop.

It said they were out when I ordered mine yesterday, but got an email today saying they were shipped out. Go figure!

IMHO, the one advantage of Plasti-Dip is that the size of the letters is unchanged. I like the idea of the blackout letters but didn't want to increase the size of the logo letters.

I thought it would as well, but honestly 2-4 coats of plasti-dip is about the same thickness as the lettering kit. The kits are very thin. Probably 1/2 mm thick.

I didn’t like the plasti-dip as it seems you can’t get perfect edges and I wasn’t sure about the longetivity, I’ve seen some faded to a Off black, maybe they didn’t put enough coats. Time vs money I choose getting the kit. Installed in 10 min.

Maybe there's something weird about the pictures I've seen of the overlays then. They seemed to make the logos look kinda blurry so I thought they were thicker.

The kits do not add thickness they are the definition of paper thin. I mean these things are soooo thin.

I am ordering a set of emblem overlays from nox lux.

I was wondering how are yours holding up? Anybody has had issues with their durability?

    Thanks

I haven’t had mine on very long, but I don’t foresee any problems. They are good quality.

Put mine on in Feb. , look just as good as when i put them on . Several washes and weather changes over the last several months and no issues with the color or the adhesion to the vehicle .

Does anyone have the chrome bar behind the lettering? Do you all still just apply the blackout kit or plasti-dip?
