Here's a thread dedicated to arguments - let it out and tell us how you really feel. Just remember forum rules on topics and etiquette.

I'll start - you know what really grinds my gears? Assholes who are playing on their phones at red lights and don't see it turn green. Then, after a courtesy honk and a longer "get you're ass moving" honk after that one is ignored, they look up at you in their rearview mirror and throw up their hands like I'm the asshole

How about the Florida videos. “Honey there’s a Hurricane let’s go out and grab something to eat and drive around a little”. Then their car gets lifted the f$&@ up by the wind.lol

I could do an entire thread of traffic complaints!

How about people who speed up when you pass them? I find myself driving way faster than I wanted to just to get away from those assholes.

You mean the people driving at or below the speed limit in the left lane, beside all the people in the right lanes so nobody can get around? And as soon as you get a chance to pass them on the right (the wrong side) they suddenly speed up? Yeah, that grinds my gears too

I was behind a GX on the interstate a few years ago who blocked the left lane driving about 5mph under the speed limit. Not enough space in traffic to pass until one spot, and when I tried to go around we both floored it - obviously he beat me. I had to tuck back in behind him and he slowed back down under the speed limit. I flashed my lights (there was enough room for him to get over several places but not for me to pass) and he started brake checking me until we were about 30mph under the speed limit.

I gave serious thought to how bad people may get hurt, how much my insurance may go up, and whether I would be charged with intentionally causing an accident just to bump him into the wall because I was fuming. I have no idea what his problem was and why he was driving like that

Well since there are no speed limits anymore. People don’t stop at stop signs. And I sware I had to pull off the road because a guy was driving right down the middle.lol

You are a better man than I, I would have found a way to force the issue - most likely by surprising them when least expected.

I'm a "spirit of the law" kind of person, not a "letter of the law". Stop signs are a way to regulate traffic though a crossroads without people running into each other. If I come to a 4-way stop in the middle of corn fields at night and I can see a half mile in every direction, I don't agree that I should have to come to a full and legal stop when nobody is there. I got a ticket about a decade ago that says I'm not correct in my thinking

Or, no tail lights at night because their DLRs are on and they don't realize it's dark. The interstates around here are well lit and I see tons of people with no headlights at all, or no tail lights because road lighting and DRLs don't let them realize their lights aren't on. But I've also seen police drive by them without pulling them over - seems like a safety hazard to me

I've noticed that large lifted pickups tend to do that every single time I pass them driving my wife's Chevy Bolt.

It's a mixture of hilarious and sad.

A true "hypermiler" would never come to a complete stop - kills gas milage.

I was watching some old school Mythbusters recently and they tested the number of vehicles getting through crossroads with 4-way stops (like in US) vs roundabouts (like in Europe) and the roundabouts moved more vehicles. Probably increases fuel economy as well. I'd never seen a roundabout until I got to MD but they have quite a few. I'm not a fan of a lot of things european (think Ron Swanson) but I do like them

I agree with this, but as I've said in other posts, consumers (in the US) are to blame for this too.

There is not as much emphasis on quality as there used to be. Everyone wants new and shiny, and we don't care about waste.

    Example:
Given a choice between a $100 toaster that will last 10 years, or a $10 toaster that only lasts a year, a lot of people will buy the $10 toaster, toss it into a landfill, and buy a new shiny one a year from now.

Maybe it's all they can afford at the time, maybe they like new and shiny, maybe they take the extra $90 and invest it over the next year and make enough money to buy a couple of toasters.

Whatever their reasons, our culture has changed

Some people just don't pay attention. The '14 JGC that I used to drive, and my wife still drives, has the "3 blink" thing if you gently move the stalk up or down without clicking it. My wife refuses to use that function and it drives me nuts because I always seem to watch that blinker keep going after a shallow turn because she forgets to turn it off

Edit: or more often, after changing lanes

I like roundabouts. Unfortunately, many people don't know how to use them yet. I try not to stop if possible. I tend to be a little aggressive in them.

I think they're great, but they do take a bit to get used to. They weren't part of my drivers test so were new to me when I came across my first.

Basically you slow down just enough to make sure you aren't going to run into someone as they come around and you keep going. It gets really difficult when there are multiple lanes and some can take exits and other have to keep going around. There is a 4 or 5 lane one in DC that I've been through that also has a stoplight - getting through that one is like solving a rubix cube

Last time I left the country which was beautiful by the way. The airport guy was like “it’s a $14,000 fine fir bringing a firearm on the plane. So I asked him “ what about box cutters”?

You can check them for domestic flights if you do it right but know the laws for the state you're flying to or you could be arrested when landing and picking up your luggage.

International is another beast. I think there was a huge fine and even prison time for flying into Belize with a single bullet.
