sorry if there’s already a thread on this

Help! I cannot get my moonroof to do anything. I’ve tried to reset it, it clicks but will not do anything. I’ve even unhooked the battery and then tried to reset the it again by holding down the tilt up and tilt down multiple times. I just took it in for a recall and asked the dealership to look into it, they told me it has to happen at the time they are looking at it. They said it worked fine on the test drive so they did not run a diagnostic test. Of course, right? But I can’t get it to tilt or open at all.

Does it do it all the time or intermittently? If its intermittently I would just drive it down there while its having the problem and have a service rep/technician come out and look at it. Don't take no or "you have to schedule an appointment" as an excuse and make them come out and look at it. If its under warranty, I have ran into more than a few dealerships who will say its operating fine, that they couldn't duplicate the issue, etc... only to pick it up, have it not work as designed, and had to force them to come out and try it in front of me before they would admit it was in fact inoperable.

Take it back to the dealer and have them show you that it works.

It only does it intermittently, the problem started since I changed the battery out several months ago.

Might be a stupid question (I don't have a moonroof), but is there a specific fuse for this? I didn't see that mentioned.

I had this happen on my Land Cruiser and it turned out to be the switch itself. I pulled it out, fiddled with it and put it back in making sure that the connections were tight and the moonroof worked fine after that. Just a thought.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes? Something might have flaked out when you replaced it.

Switches and sensors are always the first things I suspect. In any kind of device, switches seem to fail before anything else.
