Toyota Shuts Down Assembly Plants in Japan

Saw on the TV National news just now that all 14 plants in Japan are shur down. Something about parts ordering but no details.

 

yeah, my guess is computer SW and/or HW problem.

Sure, the program I saw it on was The National Desk, a Sinclair News Program, so international never hit my thought process. But hey, I offer the excuse of turning 85 in Nov LOL

It sounds like an ERP system/database failure affecting their procurement module.

All the plants would be on the same platform.

That can not only affect ability to purchase parts but receiving and getting parts in to WIP.

They may have shut down logistics also, mine has been sitting at in "rail arrive no hold" 15 miles from the dealer for a week. Was supposed to be delivered Monday but suddenly has a 5 day delay.
