Just saw a burnt orangeish 4runner and the post claimed it to be the new color for 2024. Are they not going to release a 6th gen???

Not until 2025. There are a few threads about the 6th gen.

What could they possibly add this time. I just got my 23 and it has pretty much everything someone would need

Probably nothing. It's been the same basic thing for 15 years and people keep buying them.

I’m people haha. But they add small quality of life improvements every year. I’m wondering what the 24 will have

    Me, too. ;)

What's funny is that, in 2018 when I started looking at getting another 4Runner, I was thinking about waiting for the 6th gen.

As far as the '24; I don't know what else they can add that's worth the R&D for one year of sales.

id assume the 6th gen would have a hybrid power plant so me personally i would want to keep my big ole v6 until the end of time.

It is most likely going to be an option, maybe on higher trims. But, the base motor is expected to be a 2.4L I4 turbo.

How about a way to turn on fog lights without driving head lights.
    Current set-up defeats the purpose.
Do they have fog in Japan?

(Rhetorical question. I know they hav fog there. I’ve seen it.)

They're taking forever on the 6th gen. Hopefully it's worth the wait.

Its illegal in a lot of states to drive with just fogs on in clear weather. I'm going to assume they implemented it so dumbasses dont drive with just their fogs.

Just like some drive with their high beams on 24/7 and don't realize.

I don't see them putting the turbo 6 in it. Speculation is that it will get the same hybrid setup as the new Tacoma.

mannn the turbo 6 hybrid would’ve been way cooler at least. 4xx hp would be nice on a 4runner

While not as cool as that, the turbo 4 should have way more usable power than the 1GR. I'm tempted to go test drive a 2024 Tacoma when they start hitting the lots just to see how it is.

I got to drive the top trim highlander and i must say it is an odd feeling. if i’m not mistaken the power plant should be similar? no noise until 30mph when the motor kicks in but it’s a pleasant surprise. Picks up on power pretty quick as well. but also 1gr is legendary and bulletproof don’t know what the track record is for the hybrid options but it’s toyota so probably reliable.

Last night there was a Wrangler behind me running TWO lightbars that were brighter than its headlights. It was blinding even with my mirror dimmed. I was rooting for a deer to ambush him, but it didn't happen.

Yeah, reliability is still unknown. I hope it's good. But, it's reasonable to believe it won't be as bulletproof as the 1GR.

They’re just not ready to announce yet but they’re probably working on it. Turdo 4 and all the tech screens to make your eyes bleed.

OR. Hear me out. Toyota has produced tens of millions of engines since the 1GR and has learned a lot. They've been consolidating a lot as well (frames, suspension, engines) so all their R&D has been more focused on fewer "ingredients." They know people expect their vehicles to last and so more than ever are building vehicles to do so.

@frostytrd OP I've seen this burnt orange Runner photo and posts going around. Dig deeper like I did and you'll find it's not 2024, there is no "burnt orange" coming even though I kinda like it. It IS a wrapped older model

I hope you're right. I like everything about the new engine on paper.

I'm actually not as worried about it as some others. I was just pointing out the possibility.
