Has anyone had any experience with this? Wondering if it is worth the money.

    https://urdusa.com/afe-power-76mm-throttle-body/

Disclaimer: I am well aware these vehicles are not race cars. I know if I want something fast that I should buy something else. I know that a supercharger is going to provide the most available power which I plan to add after my Christmas bonus comes this year.

With all of that being said, if there is more power that can be gotten out of a 5th gen, why not get it? This vehicle is only driven on weekends as I have a company car. I do not give a f**k about gas mileage. I’ve had it for a little over a year and only have 5k miles on it.

I am currently looking at any and all options. I won’t say money is no object but I am willing to spend the money if the bang is worth the buck.

I ordered one and will be testing it on the road as well as on the dyno as part of the Overland Tailor’s continued development process. OTT is testing a bunch of bolt ons for various platforms so people can know what works and what doesn’t. We don’t believe in butt-dyno only results, everything goes in the rollers. it provides gains or improved throttle response or some other improvement or it doesn’t and we will let people know.

I’m doing the AFE version, but same concept.

Make sure to test it after couple thousand miles too after the 4R adjusts for it.

It will adjust pretty quick when you have tuning software to tell it how to adjust :p

The “learning” on these trucks isn’t as slow as some may lead people to believe. Expose the vehicle to multiple load and rpm conditions and it will “learn” very quickly per the Toyota knock control strategy.

I would expect much NA, but if you are planning on supercharging in the future it wouldn't hurt. There will definitely be gains with a larger throttle body on the supercharger.

I absolutely love how you guys test the bolt on "performance" adders. Any chance you'll be testing the urd mid pipe? I see they are offering it again.

Not planned currently. Exhaust usually adds at the top end and personally, I want to generate more HP/TQ below 4000 rpm where I actually drive my 4Runner most the time. I don’t really care about more HP/TQ at redline.

Likely testing the Anderson Engineering intake manifold spacer next. It actually worked on the 2GT so we are looking at testing it on the T4R.

Well ill tell you first hand, this throttle body doesn't do much if anything.

I got one stupid cheap, brand new off my local fb marketplace. I paid $75 from a guy who bought one then sold his 4runner. Its definitely not worth voiding your warranty. Oh well

Well I just installed URD adapter plate and Jet 76mm throttle body and mine works fantastic. I have installed Borla exhaust, hotter coil packs, K&N filter, modified intake tube, Denso TT plugs, Jet MAF sensor, Jet throttle body, URD adapter. I'm running 33s and mine is so responsive I turned Pedal Commander off and factory Econ mode back on. It's quite the difference. My 33s feel like little factory tires now. I tried 160 thermostat and changed to 180 and the ECU idle speed reset in about 15-20 miles. I synced TPS per instructions, but it took a little driving and several key starts. I was about ready to call Jet products about the idle and it reset itself. I did do some WOT and part throttle kick downs and I think it helped reset the TPS parameters. The Jet is more expensive, but I got on sale for about aFe price. You do have to buy adapter plate however. I have used Jet the last 20 years without any failures. They have a lifetime warranty also.

I had the afe power throttle body. And I could not get it to idle for shit. It idled at like 2000rpms. I followed the instructions. I even called afe and had a "tech" walk me through the process. He said it might take a couple hundred miles for the ecu to learn. After 1000 miles and no improvement I took it off.

I drove about 20 miles with 160 thermostat. Went home and put 180 back in and drove about 20 miles. Stopped and did resync once. I was being dragged around and was going to do the same if it didn't get better. I was pulling into my garage getting home and it had reset idling perfect. I did a couple part throttle kick downs and a WOT for parameter range. I don't know if it was anything I did or just a time thing. I've had better luck than most I read about. Don't know for how long, but I tried my Pedal Commander with the upgrades and I turned it off. Too sensitive for me with it on. Changed shifting points more than any responsiveness. It's responsive and free running now.

You have quite the list of mods. Out of everything I tired. The kdmax 10.0 tune made a good difference. I also have a urd mid pipe and that made a decent difference as well.

Yeah I want a URD 2.5" mid pipe to and tuck it up high. Should improve more with 2.5" exhaust. They didn’t have a tune for mine until a few months ago is my understanding. I think I will get the tune now I'm finished with engine mods. I thought it might do better with upgrades. Honestly, I'm very pleased with results I never thought I would get. Rolling at 60+ is where I can really feel the difference. It used to feel lean and really push above 70mph. It helped the cruise control, as much as you can help 4runner cruise control. It will pull an incline in 5th with light pedal and not downshift. Sometimes I even get an Economy light in 5th pulling uphill. The way the suspension loosened up driving now surprised me. I understand why, but I didn't expect that. I'm easy to please. Now I can pull 2 greasy strings out of a cat's ass instead of one.

I tried everything as cheaply as possible. Most Toyota bolt ons didn't really do much in the past and everything 4runner is expensive. I started at exhaust and upgraded towards the front. I was hoping the combination of everything might work. It's Toyota. Wasn't expecting much. Pleasantly surprised definitely. Someone will probably take me out when I get it how I finally like it.

We dyno tested the throttle body and adapter. And we’ve tested for intake gains, there is no power added. Exhaust also doesn’t add power in catback configs. You will get throttle sensitivity improvements from the larger throttle body, but that’s it. The rest is placebo. You want more power? Tune it and run premium fuel.

It's more about getting rid of the throttle lag. It's more placebo feeling power wise. Sound making it seem like more power. I wanted to do away with Pedal Commander and I was able to. Seems to breathe better at higher speeds on hwy. No throttle lag and feels better in the seat with 33s. All I was really looking for. I don't drive on a dyno so I'm happy with what works for me.
