The 4runner is definitely a more refined and grown up vehicle. I still own a '05 trd off road, no comparison. The 3.5L made the Tacoma worse IMO, test drove one

Just some stuff to make mall crawling easier.
Yeah I have one each. Well.... My wife got the 2018 4r but she let's me mod it a bit and drive it from time to time. Definitely a sweet ride. I was so jelly of her heated seats I had to install new seats with heat in them for my Taco. :D

The 3.5 was not the only change in the Taco (I own a 2016) the main issue people had as with the Automatic Transmission. Initially a perhaps poor match. I love my 3.5 because the Manual Transmission lets me take advantage of the power curve of the 3.5. As you can see from the pictures, I also own a 4R. Comparisons should not be made between the two - VERY different machines (Apples and Oranges). Why I have one of each!

Maybe so, but that engine turned me off, sounded like a bubble bee under the hood. Maybe I'd get use to it, but not for $42,000 Canadian. Considering what you get I think the prices are getting crazy for Tacoma's.

    The same 4Runner everyone has
I've driven the new manual Tacos and just sold my Gen 2 manual after almost 6 years of ownership. There's no comparison.

I'd much rather have the low down grunt of the 4.0 instead of having to rev the pee out of the engine in every gear.

I was looking at a T4R Trail yesterday -- currently have a '13 Taco DCSB OR. The T4R has me thinking....
