So I watched a YouTube video yesterday and this guy in Colorado was making a compelling argument that Toyota may skip the 2024 model year and go straight to the 6th Gen in 2025. If this is true, then those of us who got 2023s really scored. He also pointed out that there will probably be an increase in demand for the last of the 5th Gens.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

This is an interesting thought as there has been zero announcement from Toyota on the 4Runner. It would be a great marketing move for them to help boost LC sales during the release year.

We may have seen the increase in demand for the last of the 5th gens has already played out. I bought my ‘22 when I did because it was supposed to be the last year.

So would they not produce any 4runners for the next year? That seems like it would be a waste of a great manufacturing plant.

They're making the new Land Cruiser there and they make Lexus SUV's there too.

I think we should just wait until Toyota says something instead of listening to speculation.

I just spoke to a Toyota salesman who said, if you can believe him, that the dealership doesn't yet know what will happen for 2024. Either as stated above that the 24s will be the 23s or a whole new engine like a 4 banger with a supercharger.

I just got home from ordering an ORP in MGM and the salesman said it was likely it will be a 2024 rather than a 2023. I guess I’ll find out more after it is manufactured.

on different lines? Do they make enough to replace all the 4runners they used to make?

The thing is, if the Tahara plant begins production of the new 2024 GX and Prado, it would make no practical sense for Toyota to continue an isolated production line run of the 5th gen 4Runner. They must have something up their sleeve, I mean, come on, it's the same vehicle with different sheetmetal as it has been for two decades.

This aligns with what the salesperson told me when I ordered one and gave a deposit earlier today.

Funny thing happened when I was heading to hop into my FJ Cruiser to go put a down payment on the 4Runner today. My wife “forgot” to tell me she rear-ended someone’s trailer and messed up the front of our SUV. Lovely.

it’s like a “rite of passage” for virtually every single SUV I’ve ever owned aside from my ‘78 FJ40 which she isn’t allowed to touch.

Don’t want to file an insurance claim because our rates finally came down from her last accidents. FML

Why would Toyota just skip a year and loose out on 100,000+ 4Runner sales?

There's no news about the 2024's because it's no different than the previous 13 years.

If 2024s weren’t being made, I’d have to assume my order wouldn’t have been accepted earlier today.

Doesn’t Toyota not do orders? You just put a deposit on an anticipated allocation.

I literally “built” my 4Runner to the exact specs I wanted on their website, the dealership printed it out, had me sign some stuff, give $500 and they’re ordering it from the factory.

They don’t technically order them, the put in requests for their allocations and hope they can grab it in the pipeline or trade with another dealer.

Interesting. That could mean my delivery time can be wildly inaccurate if they’re waiting for one that’s already been made.

The good thing is that I’m not in a rush whatsoever. I’d rather have exactly what I want rather than accept some random one already on the lot that doesn’t match my wishes.

The way I read it, “Only in 4WD” means that there’s no 2WD only option
“Also available in 4WD” means the truck can come in a 2WD only or 4WD option

Yes, wording. They're simply stating that OR, ORP, & PRO are not available in 2(rear)WD (only) like the other models.

Oops. @semprenissart beat me to it.

Having gone thru the process with Lexus this is 100% factual. Maybe Toyota is different.

If it’s like Lexus your sales guy will call and say he found an allocation. Mine had a different interior color than I had requested but other than that it was a 100% match. I agreed and signed a PO agreement which had a VIN and a build date. Literally tracked the vehicle as it shipped and arrived. I loaded the App and was notified the second the dealership conducted the predelivery inspection. One weird thing was the VIN on the PO was temporary. There were some Alpha Numeric changes in the last 6 or 7 digits once the car was built and showed up as in transit. That was the true VIN needed for the App.

my 2017 Taco was requested, and I got exactly what I was looking for, and my 2022 4Runner was also requested, but after 6 months I opened up my search parameters and dealerships I was working with and got the trim and color I would accept. MSRP with no add ons during that time was a win.

Getting a temp vin until built is normal

Sounds like the new land cruiser is effecting the 24 4runner. Makes it better if you have the last 23 before the redesign.

how do you track that progress? My 4Runner is still showing allocation on the Toyota tracker website.
