For me the moving rear window is just more moving parts to break and more weight with the motor. A flip up rear window would be much better and added to a split rear gate like on the 200 series Land Cruiser line would be even better. There's nothing like a split rear tailgate.

Dual exhaust? In the future those will be speakers so onlookers can enjoy your V8 muzak loop as much as you do on your stereo system.

Can't open a flip up window while driving. Sounds like you need a Landcruiser.

I really like that low-profile snorkel. I know it won't be incorporated into any designs, just looks neato.

I keep saying it on here as much as possible too, because they absolutely are watching. Sadly though, I’m sure it’s too late and their design is final at this point…
Fingers crossed they don’t make a bunch of us sad.

@nimby the new tundra does still have the roll down rear window, but with it exiting the sequoia and seeing the way the LC and GX look, I bet we’ll have that same pop up rear glass instead on the new 4R :(

It looks pretty good, but remember, this is just another pixel artist drawing what they think the next 4Runner may be.

Don't get your hopes up or get disappointed for what you do like or do not link in any rendering, they are primarily just to generate clicks and revenue at their origin site.

With a 6th gen T4R, I’ve been thinking they’re gonna have to decrease the rear cargo area size to compensate for a longer front end. Assuming they lengthen the front end like they did with the Tacoma.

The window could not roll down if that rear windshield wiper is mounted where it is at the bottom.

Otherwise there would be nothing for the wiper to rest against. I would doubt the wiper would go down with a window.

I like that render overall minus the dumb black cheap plastic wheel well covers. Gosh chinsey

The rear hatch in the render is basically copied from the LC/GX550, which has a swing-open glass hatch with the popper button on the corner.

The 3rd and 4th gen 4Runners did have the wiper on the bottom. The wiper arm goes up on a ramp when stowed, elevating the blade away from the glass surface:

The approach angle on that looks terrible.

I had no idea that snorkel was even a real product, let alone a factory option from Toyota. Thanks!

I really like this rendering. I could see this actually being the new 4runner. But it looks expensive.

Kirk Kreifels is out with a new video and rendering. He spoke with Toyota reps at the Land Cruiser reveal who confirmed, as we know, the 4Runner is not dead.

For his rendering, he started from the Tacoma so the rear wheel wells seem a little oversized, he discusses it about the 9 minute mark.

Third window seems straight. Isn’t the angled pillar a signature of all gens so far? Seems too straight in the back, if that’s the right word

He admits it is not perfect, he stated he simply wanted to show what and enclosed Tacoma would look like, that is what he thinks the new 4Runner will be.

Exactly, that is why I was pointing it out to those that do, unlike the GX or Land Cruiser, an upper wiper is possible.

I agree with him on the point that much will be forgiven if they offer a manual trans in the 6th Gen. If not, a 4th gen Taco 4 door with a manual and a bed topper would fit my needs pretty well.

I have a strong suspicion that average 4Runner buyer is not average forum member here, myself included. I am not sure too many people care about manual transmission, and toyota will get any additional mileage out of it if they offered one. Sure I (you, and others here I imagine) will be ecstatic about it. But I am not sure how many more will they sell because of it.

I also think that 4Runner has maintained styling cues from 1st gen, way more than other vehicles from toyota. I suspect they still want to maintain that distinct identity that makes 4Runner a 4Runner. If they play around with that too much...it would be just another vehicle toyota offers. I'd be way more sad if they messed it up too much, than if they just discontinued it (which isn't likely, from all reports here).

The C-pillar is said to be more upright for ease of entry, according to the latest post on 4Runner6G. D-pillar could be straight to match the LC/GX and maybe re-use some of the tooling.

the front air dam is there to make the government happy. That’s why they make them easy to take off. Pulled the one on my Tacoma off the day I got it.

The TRD Pro and Trail Hunter trims don't have it. The lower trims have an extra-large airdam to balance it out. It's Corporate Average Fuel Economy.
