When market catches up on shipping and production numbers, we're going to see vehicle prices drop back to normal, and maybe even dip below normal.

But agree Tundra really don't see as work truck anymore. I hardly ever see one on construction sites when I used to see quite a few. Don't see them much on the road either.

what are those old farts gonna do, that bought this truck (or something in that size) and kept it for years. I still see them driving around somewhat old truck. I can’t imagine a 80K truck is in their wheelhouse anymore.

to be sure, I hope to be one of those old farts in not too distant future

What are we comparing to the Defender?

    This?

These compact units will be known as “cute”.

At the least the current 4R has a rough and tough look to it.

Just pointing out how all the 'offroad' type SUVs are same overall boxy shape now. Amazing how all the manufactures decided 'yep, boxy for 2024 is where we'll take this' at the same time, years ago. Lolz

What’s up with all the black plastic trim also around wheel wells on all sorts of models lately?

If you Knick or scratch that you’re screwed. You can’t touch that up with paint or buff out a light scratch.

Plus all black plastic I’ve seen tends to age and fade and look awful after a few years. So will you need to use back to black on these parts after each wash?

Seems all sorts of cars using this cheap stuff now

    I'm glad I hung onto
I figure they expect people to replace those parts several times during ownership.

I had gray plastic cladding on my '03. The nice thing about Gray is that you don't really notice if it fades. But, other than that, it was actually nice to have as I never got any stone chips from all of the gravel roads that I drive down. Here's my '03 in November of 2016, with ~240-250K miles.

Whether or not the black will hold up as well as this, I guess we'll see.

Yeah, I actually prefer the plastic stuff if you're going to hit rough roads. Yes it fades and scuffs up, but those scratches and dents don't rust.

New Tacoma has both paint and black trim offers. Guessing 4Runner gets same treatment. Black on offroad trims, and paint on the soccer mom trims.

Yeah even on non Toyota products seems to be a new rage.

The fender on my 5th Gen trim is plastic I think and painted to match the body

Maybe it’s just me just not a fan of it, looks cheapened up but that’s just my opinion. The window trim in black on the doors I see fading enough on older 4Rs. Maybe more of an issue for those in south and hot sun

Too many mods and too much money
All the high end trims will most likely be unobtainable for most of the current 4Runner demographic for the next 4 to 5 years....perhaps longer.

I did not realize Audi had that option. I saw a new BMW tonight with that black plastic. It really made it look cheap and unfinished in my opinion too.

I hate all the new paint colors. They all look so lacking in depth. If there’s no 6th gen I’ll be looking at a GX 550

Flat is definitely the fad right now. Look at Honda, Kia and other companies. Muted grays, muted blues, muted greens (Lunar Rock) are all the rage.

The color isn’t for me but the look is growing on me with the round headlights. Too bad I wouldn’t want the twin turbos or the price tag.

No twin turbos on the Landcruiser. Or, are you referring to the GX?

    That does look good!

I pretty much like this concept, except that It does not indicate a roll down rear window. I'm sure it's just a rendering, but I wanted to say that out loud just in case anyone from Toyota is listening. :D

Agreed, the back window rolling down is iconic to 4Runners

I'm worried about the rear window.

They got rid of it on the Sequoia and the Tundra.

That doesn't give me a lot of confidence that it will stay.
