Installed these Cali Raised MOLLE panels and loved the result. Used them for a while until somebody told me some great information. They said that if I was ever hit, the curtain airbags could send these things flying and it was unsafe. I also heard of someone that had too much weight on the panels and went off-roading. The bumping around caused his curtain airbag to deploy. Looked into it and decided it was best to sell them and the accessories. I do miss them, so here is a picture of my setup. What do you think of my decision?

Had mostly everything mounted with R4T MOLLE mounts.

I'm interested in what others have to say - I'd love to hear real world experience of them going off with panels and/or shelf.

I have panels and the shelf so feel the shelf may keep them in place? The only research I came up with a while back was one blurry pic that looked like the airbags deployed behind the panels without issue.

I've heard arguments that there are no curtains back there unless you have 3rd row seating but someone pointed out part numbers are the same and consensus was they are back there either way.

I just try not to keep heavy shit on them. I have quick fists for hatchet and axe but have that weight low and they only go on when I leave for a camping trip. Otherwise, the heaviest things I have on the panels are molle pouches with ratchet straps inside.

Look nice, but I think about how many times I turn to look at the quarter window on passenger side to make sure nobody is in my blind spot.

I keep that area open (passenger side) so I can look out that corner when I back into the garage.

I can't imagine them going off unless you had a ton of weight on them... is that for real?

If I carried that much stuff around the back every day, guaranteed the vehicle would get broken into and everything stolen.

Is that a whole-ass fan held on by bungee cords?

I got mine from Bullet Proof manufacturing. They came in as raw aluminum. Which appealed to me. I had to spray paint them. They both weigh only 7 pounds between both panels and I like the bracket design that distributes the weight from the top. It’s nice to keep things off of the trunk floor from rolling around. Nicely organized. And I got to admit, it looks pretty cool as well

I got the side panels. I was going to get a top tray. I looked at the hardware holding tray. Not sure in a major collision those bolts would not just shear off and decapitate all occupants. Probably not, but still the forces involved… And once I got that picture in my head, well my decision was made.

I don't want to tell you what to do with you're own stuff but if it were me I don't think I'd point that hatchet edge at the back of the passengers head, just in case it does come loose in a collision. I typically mount mine upside down with cutting edges facing down or back to keep all weight as low as possible and to give them the best chance of not cutting someone if they do come loose.

Appreciate that. But I have some decent clamps that are holding it very securely. Well advised. Thank you.

I carry light stuff on the shelf. The shelf has a panel to keep the stuff from flying forward and bungy cords so I can access the gear. Also, I put light stuff on the side panels.

I was thinking exact same thing. Although it looks like hatchet has cover on edge, still dangerous with a hatchet's ability to fly through the air, especially during high impact crash.

That's a ton of stuff in the back. wingo

It is a lot less then most I seen. Still have have the original cargo space. I only carry what I might need incase of emergency.

Yes, it only stayed on while parked at a location while chillin' in the back.

Needed it to be easily removed.

100% real. They were on tight and rattled a bit which made me sketched out as well. Especially over big bumps, it would make concerning noises on the passenger side WITHOUT the fan.

Am I the only that removes everything after trips? I have a box in my garage labeled “Molle” full of the goods. Mine don’t make a noise either, if they squeaked or made noises trust me my wife wouldn’t ride in the vehicle.

I was referring to the airbags going off. The rest I can definitely understand haha
