Now I have 2 4Runners

Greetings from Richmond VA, although we are currently on Ocracoke Island NC. I'm just an old guy who retired in 2012.

I bought a 2016 Trail Premium w/KDSS around Thanksgiving that year and three weeks ago bought a 2023 ORP w/KDSS. The new one is at home locked in the garage. I didn't want to drive it 4 hours with a load of beach and fishing junk and a dog (and then the 3 hours on the Swanquarter ferry) to the island two weeks ago and then take it out on the Hatteras National Seashore beach everyday.

When we get home I have an appointment Wednesday at Discount Tire for 4 new Michelin Defenders. I've been using the m&s road version for years with great success both on the beach and to tow my 16' off-road fishing boat. We fish a lot of large ponds and small lakes that don't have ramps. We prefer isolated fishing even if the muddy clay banks make it a little challenging.

Okay, my stepson will be getting the 2016 after we get back. He will sell his 2015 Trail with 150k miles and give me the money. His mother approves. I must be the only married man who said, "I think I'll buy a new truck" and had his wife immediately say, "I really think you should get it."

Have not been to Ocracoke in about 35 years. Would like to get time to go back in the future!

 

Those Michelin's are great tires.

 

You won't recognize it. They got a 911 system 24 years ago and had to name all of the streets. It is now a spendy tourist town. Very nice, but not just locals and vagabond hippies anymore. We still like it though.

 

Actually, my wife said yes to my FJ40, then GAVE me her 4Runner when the FJ didn't work out AND said yes to the RAV4 I bought her.
