    Hey all,
I've been having trouble with my 4Runner dying when I leave it for 3-4 days. Alternator is 3 years old, battery is 3 weeks old. I live in CO and there has been a couple cold snaps while it was left alone.
The only draw I found is from compass in the rearview mirror (~200A).
Anybody got an idea or maybe another thread that has some advice?

Details? like what year, maybe picture of engine compartment area around battery and the engine area Fuse box, How did you check for draw?

Sorry I'll clarify. The dealership said that was the draw they found the first time I went in with a battery issue before my alternator was replaced 3 years ago.

Ok now we have a Direction to go in, The Battery looks clean with good connections on the Posts and the Fuse box dusty but clear that it has not been full of water and no blueish green corrosion visible.
So have you Done any electrical trouble shooting before?

Do you have a 12 Volt test probe that has a light AKA circuit tester? see picture below of one.
A multimeter will also help since you need to see what the system is charging at first 13.5 VDC to 14 + VDC

To Start with the Key off and out of the switch pull the Negative battery Terminal off battery.
looking at the underside of the Fuse cover lid Find the Fuse (S) for the Clock and interior lights pull those fuses.
Take the Circuit tester clamp the end with the clip on the Battery post and then the probe point to the ground terminal clamp or a good ground point
If there is No draw the light will not come on if there is and the light is on pull one fuse at a time to see if it go's out.

The Most common issue that causes a battery draining Draw is corrosion at the Door light switches that many times the protective rubber around them cracks with old age So if you have do not have the light on put the dome light fuse back in with all the Doors shut and see if you get the light on the picture may or may not be same location on yours.
All this is Just a start it is where I start looking for phantom power draws and look for Blueish Green Corrosion around plugs and connectors.

Does it have any aftermarket accessories such as remote start? If so, try disconnecting them. My son bought a used Corolla with an aftermarket remote start, and within a year the battery began going flat over several days of sitting. I was able to measure a drain of around 250mA with everything off. Short story is that disconnecting the remote start fixed it.

Thank you I will try that suggestion wdsteven.

Unfortunately there is no remote start, one day that might be a problem though. Thanks

Do you have an aftermarket alarm? I had one and it was draining my battery big time. Took the brains out and all is good.

You need a good reading to see if there’s a too-high “parasitic” standby current draw.

Here’s how to do it. Note that Toyota says the standby current should be less than 50 mA.

I would say there is a good chance the alternator is not charging the battery. Does not mean the alternator is bad. Can be the connection between alternator and battery.

    3 days?
    how dead it is?
do you still have dome light when open door?

have you perform parasitic draw test?

assume you're using a brand new 65ah battery and it's totally dead

65 / 3 day/ 24 hr = 0.9 amp static parasitic draw which should be easy to figure out
