    Hey all!

4th gen owner, previously owned 3rd gen and 2nd gen, new to forum. 4th gen is 2008 and just turned 146k. Bought him when he was five years old and had only 33k miles. His name is Max, but he also goes by Maximus Prime, Mad Max, and (when he's super dirty from mass road trips) Maxipad. Lol

Max has been my trusted and reliable road warrior and never let me down. From too many desert trips, the mountains, 11 western road trips, and fishing trips, to lots of air mattress in the back camping trips he has been my dude, kept me safe, and loves adventure.

His oil is changed every 5k, and mechanically he's on point. I flush the cooling system myself and keep all other fluids in check. I've yet to do the serpentine belt even though he's at 146k so I'm doing that this month. I did just replace all the TPMS sensors. Supposedly they only last 8 to 10 years...he's 15 and the sensor light just came on. If you're doing one, do all. Other than that, this car has been extremely reliable and very low maintenance.

I'm at a point now where I want to start adding some cool stuff to him. I've removed the running boards, he's got adjustable shocks that gave him a prerunner stance (and got rid of that lame rake) though they've settled a bit, and I'm now looking at changing out the headlights to aftermarket LED projector headlights, adding a custom bumper skid plate combo that doesn't take away too much from the stock look but still looks awesome, and maybe adding Methods. I want to make him look more aggressive, but keep him "classy" because he's my daily and I sell real estate.

The downside to Max...the infamous shitty Toyota paint job. His paint is now in bad shape which bums me out, so I'm weighing the option of paint or wrap. Comes down to cost and longevity.

If anyone has any cool ideas for upgrades and mods, I'd love to hear them! :D

There’s some really cool colors for a wrap, my neighbor just had his 2019 Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 in a color close to Toyota’s Lunar Rock, just a hair darker, a satin finish as well, which I’m not opposed to. A total repaint, if done right can be expensive. I think he said the wrap was $7,200. You decide, flip a coin, or on a weekend you could cut some stencils and with a few rattle cans do a sweet Camo paint job. Welcome to the forum!

I actually contemplated Lunar Rock in a satin finish even tho it's not "period" correct for 4th gen. I love that color! A complete, "done right" paint job I'm told will run around $7k. My buddy has a wrap place and said he'd do a wrap for btwn $3k and $3500. He also the lifespan is between 3 and 5 years depending on how well you take care of it. That's where I tend to pencil out the costs and lifespan of each. ‍♀️

Race car is a diamond plate camo...I could match it. Lol

I’d say you’re totally dialed in with regards to paint, wrap and Camo options. Keep us posted, along with photos as to what direction you go!
