Yeah I had that thought about hitting those spots with touch up paint to prevent it from getting worse and then vinyl wrapping but shouldn't have to do that on a brand new painted Hood

Your 100% right. For the price it should be perfect.
Please keep us updated. Id love to know what they say and how they are going to fix it.

What a bummer about the crappy paint job. I would just send it back and get a refund. They should also pay for return shipping. Looks like a hack job.

I like the hood without the fake scoop. I checked my air cleaner box and it has a factory cold-air intake from the fender well.

That is double the price than buying an OE hood and having it painted to properly match. I would make these guys make it right for you.

Okay just a couple points I want to make

To this point I'm still fighting with them right now they want to send me a replacement I'm not interested in a replacement I want a complete refund and the company is not even acknowledging the request they just keep talking about sending me a replacement and making me send this one back no timeline no other information to add but extremely unhappy I just sent them another email telling them I would like a phone call with someone who makes decisions but I have no interest in continuing to do business with them

As to the person who posted about that being double the price again I don't know where you live here in central Pennsylvania you're not getting the Hood from a dealership be it OEM for less than probably 7 to $800 because they are marking it up and all said and done I was going to be several thousand dollars into having the hood painted locally checked with multiple good painters price was in line plus I would have to be without the vehicle for several weeks so to say that this was double the price or that the price wasn't in line is incorrect at least as where I live maybe where you live is different not taking a shot at you

But right now I highly recommend you do not do business with this company

I did float the idea of pulling the scoop having it wrapped and seeing if that would hide where the paint was screwed up but that went out the window when they asked me to remove the scoop to send them pictures and all the wet paint was stuck to the scoop and actually started peeling the paint up off the hood

Good to know to avoid this company, I have some deep scrapes and need to replace my front bumper. I looked in that company and all their promises. Certainly don't want to deal with all that now.

Where in Central pa are you? I'm outside of lebanon.

I mean if they are going to send you a replacement at 0 cost to you. What do you have to lose. That is Unless you just want a refund and part ways.

@Fishbum - if they refuse to refund your purchase price, what's the next step in your mind?

If you end up giving the company a chance to earn your business again, have them paint the scoop and hood separately. Have them ship the items to you individually and don’t install the scoop until the paint has had a few weeks to cure properly.

If you end up trying to get your own hood and find your own painter, some of us forum members will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

Good luck with the company and please keep us updated on the situation.

They make that impossible. Only have a short time to file a claim for paint match reasons

they clearly put the two panels together before they should have. If you otherwise like what you received, maybe they can assure you they will not make the same mistake, will provide a replacement prior to your returning the original, and will pay for all the shipping? Would that be acceptable?

I understand what you guys are saying however after they were so late in getting the hood done and now this I'm really just kind of over it with them. Not to mention I'll have to wait on the replacement then sweat whether the paint will match again which we all know paint is tricky then there's a shipping aspect what if the other one gets damaged...... Really prefer they just pay for shipping to get this one back and part ways

Let us know if they'll refund your money and take it back. I suppose if you paid by credit card you could dispute the transaction through them, since what you received was defective.

There is a member on this forum who bought the scooped hood from a dealership and had it painted for a total of something like $800... In expensive Southern California!

First, go to parts.toyota.com... The dealerships discount stuff bought on the website! A dealer in my area charges 2-3 times as much for OEM parts than what I pay on the parts website. Do not dismiss them until you have sought out pricing using the information I include below...

Search out these part numbers 53301-35200 and 53301-35210... (I'm guessing that one that ends with 10 is the air scoop.) There are also scoop parts that you have to get, I think Toyota calls them bulges.

For reference, search using the ZIP code 92108. That'll take you to a dealership that has reasonable pricing for the parts. Then you can search out your local dealerships for competitive pricing.

I got a hood painted for $475 and ended up selling the car back to the dealership after a year of ownership. Now I have a classic metallic silver non-scooped hood available...

At this point, I wouldn't be waiting for them, I would start by putting a dispute up with the credit card company. Concurrently, I would also contact the Better Business Bureau. While they have no teeth, it does give the feel that you are very serious and will spend the time to exact vengeance.

I would also be circulating photos of the hood wherever I could post them.

If not shy, a local television news crew who posts on YouTube would be a good one as well.

Hood was picked up yesterday LTL once they've received it supposedly they're going to authorize a full refund... I've just been trying to be patient and see how this shakes out before commenting more

Hi Fishbum and all 4runner Owners. First we do take responsibility for all the issues that has occurred with this order. Unfortunately, there was some issues in getting the hood due to backorder and the dealership we deal with had given us misinformation in regards to timeframe. No fault to them also as the factory it was coming from also gave them misinformation on actual ship out date. The painting process does take sometime and then there is our quality control side. We do extensive paint correction when needed and sometimes items fail due to imperfections. This part was unfortunately one of those parts that did not meet standard resulting in repaint. We try to update customers as much as possible with information we get from our partner dealership and with our estimated painting timeframe. We don't have any intention of misleading anybody, but try to give as much update as possible.

Now the paint issue around the hood scoop. Another forum member is correct that the paint unfortunately did not dry as fast in that area as the rest of the panel. We sell a lot of 4runner and Tacoma hood conversions with the scoop. Honestly speaking this is absolutely the first time we had this issue occur and I have relayed this issue with my team leads to look out for in the future. We do paint each part separately as the scoop has gaskets that need to be set in the scoop then put on the hood itself.

Our Return/Refund process. If we make a mistake we own up to it and try to make it right. First thing we offer is a replacement without charge and/or customer choose to get a full refund that we will honor. In this case customer did get the full refund and we wish things could of worked out in him receiving a perfect hood the second time around. We completely understand also in his decision to part ways and thank him for giving us a chance.

As a family owned and operated business (husband and wife). If you want to get to know us we are the face of our social media account (ReveMoto). We do care about each and every customer that orders from us as we know how hard everyone works to be able to purchase these items. Christine and I (Rolando) do apologize for any issues Fishbum incurred and we hope that if you are in need of any parts you try us out.

    Thank you very much

    Rolando

Nice try, Rolando. But if you actually read the 3 1/2 months worth of posts in this thread it's not just about quality control - which you pawn off on everyone but your company. It's largely about your complete lack of cooperation and communication with the OP, which IS under your control. I still don't see any actual "owning up to it" at all in your post.

@TeslasBigCarbonFootprint if its the scoop one you for sure gonna sell that. Good luck with the sell sir.
@08TXRunner We did own up to everything. Unfortunately some things are out of our control and in the end can only make things right. I did read every comment from timeframe, disputes, fraud and positive ones.
