New Head Unit Shakedown Trip

Just returned from a 5 day trip to NM & CO. The new head unit performed flawlessly.

My OEM head unit failed several months ago, the GPS crapped out...

So I got a Kenwood DNX 577S and all the fixin's from Crutchfield, including an iData link.

The R & R went very smooth but did require some study before project kick-off.

All steering wheel controls work. I lost the wired OEM "Aux" input but the Kenwood unit has bluetooth so that serves the same as an aux input. I like the Garmin GPS much more than the factory unit. Having Android Auto, although a wired connection, is great.

The iData link works well and does what it's supposed to. Had a tire puncture just before the trip. Was able to monitor that tire in real time to make sure it was holding up at sustained 80 mph.

During install I had to make a call to Crutchfield tech service. (My mistake, not theirs.) They walked me right thru the fix, no muss, no fuss no bother.

Overall I would recommend Kenwood, iData Link and Crutchfield. The head unit package is the only system on "ol' Hoss" that's not OEM or OE. (Not countin' tires and battery.) It's a big improvement.
