    Hey guys -

I’ve seen on Reddit and YouTube that newer ‘23 TRD Pro models are now coming with the pre-2021 wheels. I have had my preorder sitting at port since May now. Dealer says it is waiting for center caps. Does anybody have any insight? Thanks.

Center caps are on national back order. I got my TRD Pro wheels a month before I even bought my car, damn near impossible to find the center caps. I found a pair on ebay and then after calling 8 different dealerships, 1 had some in stock.

Center cap shortage probably from us 3rd Gen tundra guys buying them all up. Part number is the same for all 4 TRD pros now.
Scored my set from Tundras forum for $25.

I still think they're trying to clear Tacoma TRD wheel stock, but yeah it's a thing.

I guess that will be the hot item to be stolen center caps. Guess when my Solar octane comes in need to pull the wheels and store them away and put SCS wheels on. Lol.

I would be pretty upset. Not because the wheel is inferior, but I personally prefer the styling of the new Pro wheels.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.

Also structurally the newer is flow formed vs the older cast version.

100% I will be disappointed if it arrives with the old style.

Yeah I checked with my salesman and his manager cannot get a answer on which ones will be on it. I found a place not that far from me sells the new wheel aftermarket but I won’t go that route. If I change my wheels they will have SCS wheels on.

I’ve seen different info in different places. Someone on Reddit suggested that if you have model code 8674C you’ll get the new wheels and 8674E will get the older ones. I also saw this video on YouTube from Untamed Motors who just got a solar octane but I don’t know which model number he has. ‍♂️

Yeah I checked my spec sheet and has that number but don’t list C or E after it.

I just checked my window sticker and I have 8674A with the newer wheels. My build was in December of last year.

I'd be seriously bummed out if I was planning on keeping the OEM wheels that were supposed to be the stronger flow formed wheels.

I think that’s why my spec sheet has no letter on it because not sure which wheels will be on it for September time frame.

Just did some research just to check and see if they were available. Bam’s wholesale parts you can buy the newer oem wheel but the center caps don’t come with them. Gives you the part number and it’s said you need to contact for availability. So someone here posted about the center caps being the issue. If I had the choice I would still go with the newer wheel and just wait for the center cap to come back in stock but Toyota don’t give you that option.

Its the red. Joking not joking.

We can't get red parts right now for our fire alarm stuff. Sad day when manufacturers can't get red pigment.

My salesperson said it hadn’t shipped because it was missing center caps. This was a couple of weeks ago before I started seeing this new info.

Also, the Toyota-tracker website is showing my delivery date from July 14-27. Salesman called me on Saturday and said his info was saying July 27-31 for delivery but as far as he could tell it hadn’t been put on a train yet.

That's exactly where I bought my wheels from, and they're out of center caps.

One of my cars I had a deposit on constantly was getting pushed back. Went from July 4 - July 12 to July 22 - July 30. Ended up finding my car that was on the lot 1.5 hour away from me.

I got my bronze center caps recently for the new style 40th-anniversary wheels (wheels shipped from BAM). I ordered the center caps months ago via the Toyota website and chose my local dealer to ship. they shipped the first 3 a month ago and then the last one was delivered last week. So they are getting center caps in. just slowly.

Yeah I agree on the tires. Need a more aggressive tire put on.

Guess I better pop off my center caps and put them in a safe deposit box. ;(

I’ve been waiting on my center caps to ship for almost 2 months. Supposedly the vendor in Mexico went out of business and they were in the process of changing vendors and doing a final QC. I was told end of July so we’ll see…

Are people breaking wheels? Not an issue I've heard of with the older style.

I'd be more bummed because the newer style looks better...

My 4Runner still hasn’t been delivered, estimated date has changed again to August 15-September 2. So now we’re over 2 months late. Looks like everything showing up on lots now have the old wheels. I’m bummed.
