Hello all. Just bought my forever vehicle. 2016 Limited Edition 4Runner. So in love with it. It’s my third but my previous rig was a 1999 SR5. Basic and simple and strong. The 16? Nothing basic about it. So I’m going to roll out the first of probably many question as I get to know her better.

First can you please tell me how to replace fuel pedal pad? How does it come off?

    Second, what is this?71137201798__C7017E83-51A7-4A49-9378-D2E678F137C5.jpg71137194258__9B39FF1C-65BD-467D-AA7A-883D026FD3C5.jpg

And do we have a favorite phone mount? I thought coming from a MINI that I would be able to easily find some place in the 4Runner. Not the case.

thanks for your input. Looking forward to hanging out here more

that appears to be an aftermarket, hands-free microphone setup. Who knows how it was wired in or why.

    Welcome to the forum!

    1. I’m not sure how to remove the pad from the gas pedal. Usually they just peel off. Maybe someone who actually knows will chime in.

    2. That is an external microphone. Whether it hooks up to your infotainment system or something else the previous owner used I have no clue. Perhaps a dictaphone or a phone that didn’t have Bluetooth? Maybe you can find the other end of it dangling somewhere. If you do an image search for “car microphone” you’ll see it. It is not a stock part.

    3. Have a look at this lengthy thread about phone mounts. There’s quite a lot of buzz about one made by OffRoam.

Take another picture of your radio, it does not appear to be OEM, which is why you have an aftermarket microphone

I’m in the pool right now, I can snap a pic later but when I purchased it, it wasn’t from a Toyota dealership and they kind of suspected that it was an aftermarket infotainment center. Oddly enough when I was searching for some thing I saw almost that exact same screen in some other vehicles so it must be a thing. And because that system is so much smarter than I am I figured that’s why the sound was coming across strange. Maybe it’s because that goofy mic is there

That mic should only be used for voice controls and phone calls. It shouldn't affect radio quality. What will affect it however is the radio itself. Aftermarket options are hit and miss with audio quality.

I didn’t quite do that quote correctly. It’s been several years since I was active on a forum. And I was very active on the MINI Cooper forum.

I guess I will see how it plays out. I’m still trying to figure out the system.

I just ordered personalized plates. And a boot mat. And door edge protectors. Also a boot storage unit. A receiver cover. Cabin air filter. I’m crazy lol.

I’m going to make it comfortable and convenient and mostly I’m just gonna make it mine. I mod’ed the begeezus out of both of my MINIs. Trying to not get too carried away here. It’s early yet.

Reached out to my tint guy. Probably do the clear bra on that black paint as well. He did the above on both of my minis, and he guarantees his work for a lifetime and he’s good, and he keeps his word. Sounds like a plus for a forever vehicle.

It also has third row seating. I’d not seen that before.

thanks for letting me ramble. Anybody got something fun to add to make me crazier chime in.

And so it begins. Just purchased an interior LED kit from Amazon. The OEM lighting leaves a lot to be desired. And a console cover because my beautiful choco lab Kona loves to put her front big ass mits on it. 71138874158__EDBB60C8-A996-473A-A35D-6902EEFF3335.jpg

@sympley76 are you sure it was the gas pedal rubber you changed? Last night I looked at my gas pedal. The arm and pedal are one piece, with no rubber pad. The brake pedal and the parking brake both have a rubber pad. Then I read your post about having changed the gas pedal pad and thought mine must be missing. So I went to a parts website (autoparts.toyota.com), entered in @RNR4P’s vehicle information (2016 Limited) and it seems there isn’t one for the accelerator pedal. It makes sense if you think about it. Since the pedal hinges from above, your shoe would need to slip on it a little bit as it goes through it’s travel. Hence no rubber. Anyway, I couldn’t find a rubber gas pedal pad. Just a single part: Sensor Assy, Accelerator Pedal.

@RNR4P what’s the issue with you’re accelerator pedal that makes you feel the pad should be changed?

100% did the brake and gas pedal. I used these, literally pulled original off and put these on. Both held on by a rubber surround that warps around the bare pedal once you peel off the original. I have 2021 Limited, can't imagine my gas pedal is different than others. Took 2 minutes for both at most.

Is the underlying pedal all-metal, or plastic?

I am looking into the gas pedal because I am short and have small feet. Feels like I’m driving with my toes. Which is mostly fine but on a road trip could get uncomfortable.

    It’s all about the ride….

What I find interesting is that the accelerator pedal on sympley’s 2021 Limited came with a rubber pad and my ‘22 ORP did not. My assumption would have been that they would all be the same going back to the time of the dinosaurs.

That makes no sense, after work I will try to find the original pieces and take a picture. I can't imagine the pedals are different. I also installed a sprint booster and the plugs all were same as any other 4 Runner. Unless they change it from 2022? However the website I purchased from shows good for years 2010-2023
