33” Wild Peak Tire Question

Like to install 285/70/17 Falken Wild Peaks on TRD wheels on a stock 23 ORP. Is this doable? How much rubbing would I be dealing with?

This would only be temporary until I get new suspension (Billstein 6112 / Billstein 5160 with Total Chaos UCA) next month. I like to get the original tires/ORP wheels off and sold while they have less than 3K miles on them.

Is this something I could (or really “should”) do or would it be best to just wait it out?

You’ll get very little for the tires regardless, a few extra thousand miles won’t make a difference for selling the wheels. I’d just wait, and do it all and once.

Hey yo, I think I can help a little
Pretty sure TRD/PRO wheels are 7" wide 4mm offset, and Trail/OffRoad are 7.5" 15mm offset. Both 4.5 backspace.
I bought 9" wide Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels 0 offset 4.5 backspace and run 285/70R17 Load E Mickey's with no problems. Also went with suspension Bilstein 3/2 lift aftermarket springs. No rub with SPC's.
For OEM rims, in this community I've read a lot about max tire size; 7.5" wheels are OK, 7" wheels may technically not be rated for 285 and speak against it

I have 32.76in P285/70R17SL Falken Wildpeaks on TRD (offroad) wheels. I have about 2.5in front lift and 1.5in lift on my Limited. It only rubbed on front fender liner. I pushed it forward and it's clear now.
For TRD & SR5 you probably have to trim lower part of the bumper in addition to pushing the fender liner forward.

My buddy's SR5 got 3in front and 2in rear lift. It used to run tiny bit on front with same size BFG KO2 Load C mounted on SR5 wheels, but after few trail runs the tires itself did the clearance job and he didn't have to do any trimming. LOL..

 

I certainly have read the debates in the TRD 7in wheel running on the 285’s. Seems like there are plenty of case examples that allow it with no issues. I’m leaning that way now but may go out and get something after market later. Thanks

 

I am going to have R4T install my suspension (Billstein 6112 coilovers in the front and 5160 with Icon springs in the rear with Total Chaos UCA’s). May just hold off on wheels/tires and have them mount and install all at once. That way they could take care of any cutting etc. They are doing the alignment as well so. I just want to sell what I am driving on now (ORP wheels and Dunlop tires) and get it out of the way. I took a few things off the 4R after a week of owning it and need to sell that stuff as well. If I let it build up in the garage I hear the wrath from my wife.

 

Yes its safe for R4T to take care of both suspension and trimming department. I do spend lot of time discussing with Hugo what to do and "is there a better option than this and that". I even meet him in person and discuss.

 

Yep, we’ve traded emails for the past two weeks or so. I’m on their calendar for next month. I don’t trust myself cutting up my 4R which is why I will have them put on the low pro bumper/winch/light bar when I have more funds. Taking off the entire front to install Morimoto headlights, and some other stuff was out of my league before actually doing it. Still don’t trust myself with a saw though.

 

Honestly dude, I was quick to sell my ORP wheels and Dueler H/T tires, before I knew what I had (regarding the wheel quality for on and offroad). Pretty sure I sold for $500 CAD cash FB marketplace, they sold in minutes. Mine were 7.5" wide and like new. Myself today would have kept them. F*ck the old tires tho lol
