I try to avoid mounting to the dash (but you can use better sticky tape), windshield is much better. This one has been on my windshield for 4 years so far and no issues.

I haven't tried it with the exact product you mention. But it's worked well with other similar mounting situations. It seems the glue strips on other similar products just are not up to snuff.

Combine that console charger with a wireless Android Auto or Apple Car Play dongle, and you might not need to mount the phone at all. I use this Motorola dongle. Anything I need the phone for while driving, I can just do on the screen in the 4Runner.

I tried two of these. Loved the concept but found that they run very hot, make the phone very hot and don't charge it properly. So I bought a tray like this one but without the built in charging and made my own by addiding an Apple Mag Safe charger to the tray. I just glued the charger to the tray where there phone goes and it works great, every time. Power comes from the 12V outlet in the console into a USB-C power adapter. The Apple charger plugs into that. Also charges my Air Pods.

I got the wireless adapter for Apple CarPlay from Carlinkit as well. Love this setup, Apple Car play w/o having to plug in and my phone is safely stored in the console while charging.

Right here. Has been there for over a year so far. I have a hatred for anything windshield mounted or anything that comes above the dash. So clunky p.s. don't steal my wallet

Ha. Can you see the entire phone screen behind the steering wheel?
