Hey y'all! Are there any safe options besides the center console safe Toyota offers? I'm looking to have a secure locking safe that is hidden for when I'm CC but have to go into places where I'm not able to carry (gov. buildings, court houses, etc - I work in social work) and don't want to have to run home between stops to drop off my firearm or have to travel without it as I often have to visit clients in very isolated areas.

Welcome. I use the Lock'er Down console safe. It's secure enough for quick short storage and fits really well in the center console. They also offer a digital lock to make access easier.

You could probably also bolt down a biometric firearm safe under one of the seats. This may be a hassle for quickly retrieving and storing your CC.

I don't think you'd have much room under there. I just shoved my hand under my seats and felt rails and a bunch of wiring.

One of the thing I miss about my 2015 JKU. It had room under the driver's seat for stuff like that.

I LOL at the headrest safes. They have been advertising them so much that now every thief knows what they are and how they look. Also, I may be wrong, but don't they just mount by pushing in the two headrest mounts into the seat (and get removed just as easily?).

If I'm going into a federal building (or anywhere else I can't carry) I put my Glock 19 in a small metal safe and then put it with all my junk behind the front passenger seat with rear seats folded down.

It's a very inexpensive option and it's great for when I'm absent from the car.

I've had Lock'er Down console safes with the extreme lid in my 3rd gen Tacoma and 5th gen 4Runner. Love 'em.

I have a Hornady lockbox similar to this. I keep it cabled around a passenger seat rear leg and under the passenger seat, inserting it from the rear side. It won’t slide in/out from the front side. My Rear Husky floor liner lip keeps it from sliding out the back. But the lip can be pushed down to get it out. All including the cable is out of sight as the rear leg is far enough forward that it cannot be seen thru a rear window.

That's a good idea. I don't have mine cabled to anything, it's floating in the back. I think maybe I should go to the effort to secure it properly as you do. I will check out the Hornady lockbox too. Thanks for this.

BTW I find putting the cable around the rear leg next to the center console is best
