I used to detail cars at a dealership (worst job I've ever had, but I loved my supervisors and coworkers), and I dropped by for a visit yesterday; I couldn't a year on this truck because it has no license plate, and it isn't listed on the dealer website yet. I believe it to be a 2007-2009 because it's a fairly loaded SR5 model, but doesn't have a backup camera...

2nd Gen Tacomas came standard with backup cameras in all models SR5 and above starting for the 2009 model year, even the RARE regular cab SR5 models, and became standard across the board with the debut of the 3rd Gen for MY2016.

I always assumed that the same was true for 2nd Gen Tundras beginning in 2009, until I saw a Rock Warrior with no backup camera. I've had also seen 2nd Gens with the SR5 trim, as new as 2010-2011, that do not have a factory backup camera. My uncle has a 2012 Tundra DCSB 2WD with the SR5 trim, and it has a factory backup camera. The white 1st year 2007 RCLB above has what seems to be a dealer-installed OEM backup camera; I am still confused as to why some fairly loaded 2009-2011 Tundra SR5s left the factory so no backup camera.

2016 RCLB SR; I was totally unaware that a regular cab was offered in this generation and initially thought it was a very heavily modified 2nd Gen with 2.5th Gen body panels! I thought it was a Double Cab with an 8-foot bed, and was going to take pictures of it anyway, but then I realized it was a regular cab; I LOVE THIS TRUCK!

A few years back, pictures of a previously totaled 2nd Gen RC Tacoma that had been converted into a 3rd Gen by somehow making 3rd Gen body panels fit were circulating on TacomaWorld. That truck had a rebuilt title as a result of the prior wreck, but the seller still wanted a fortune; I initially believed that this truck might have been a previously totaled salvage title wreck that had been cut up and turned into a 3rd Gen RC, until I ran the Carfax and found out that it only a clean title, but also had no accident history whatsoever...

This is more than I can say about my beloved Tacoma...

My truck has a clean title, but it has been involved in several minor to moderate accidents that weren't my fault (and a couple minor ones that were my fault), but my truck has never had any airbag deployment or been disabled as a result of an accident. Unfortunately, my truck's Carfax report has a few accidents on it. Again, it does NOT have a rebuilt/salvage title; I have a clear Pennsylvania title in my name stashed in a fireproof safe. Unfortunately, even though my truck is still worth about ten grand thanks to the high demand for used vehicles, it would probably be worth hell of a lot more if it had a flawless record...

Anyway, one of the first clues as to whether or not this was a true 2.5th Gen or just a rebodied 2nd Gen would have been the interior; I immediately looked at the interior and was shocked to see that it had a 2014+ interior!

 

Even more shocking was that it had crank windows; I have NEVER seen a 2.5th Gen with crank windows! At this point, I hadn't run the license plate through Carfax, and I still believed that somebody had built this from a Double Cab or a CrewMax...

 

I quickly figured out, even before running the license plate through Carfax, the this was a legit regular cab and not a custom build...

 

Before I ran the license plate through Carfax and confirmed that it was real regular cab, I looked closely at the rear frame rails for any signs of cutting and welding; I found none, and the frame was also surprisingly clean for a Jersey truck of this age...
