2016 4runner

Is the 2016 year a good year to buy? Looking for a vehicle for my daughter. Any issues I should be aware of?

Ok good to know on the years. I just saw it has a branded title. I’m not sure what had happened to it.

 

I mean that's my opinion, but a wise one. Less is more, I always say. I don't need birds eye view backup cam and lane assist and TSS or whatever. That's after 20192020

 

Watch out for rusted frames and salvage titles

We've got a '16 Trail and no issues have shown their ugly heads. I don't care for most of the nanny buttons/features.
But we like the heated seats. It takes a while for the A/C to cool the cab, like 5 minutes/5 miles. Same with heating the coolant in the winter. It's still all stock except for better PIAA yellow fogs behind the grill and side exit tailpipe.
The windshield has been chipped and cracked for going on 4 years now. I do my own mechanical maintenance and will leave the computer stuff to the techs if/when it needs it.

What model are you looking at?

@djwantke having nanny buttons does not make for unreliable vehicle. Not sure how you can claim 2019 and before is the most reliable vehicle in the world and 2020+ is just..,meh

 

I had a 2016 SR5 for 6 years and no problems

 

Hey dude, sorry I didn't mean to bash 2020+, I don't think I really said anything like what you're implying but it's commonly discussed on threads that there's benefits to less tech; >2019

 

add 2020+ 4R tech to the spooky ghost list with KDSS.

 

KDSS is old, and tried and true, there's like barely any cases even on here; don't be afraid of their ghosts!

The man's right, there's like almost no issues to be aware of or worry about. Until the 6th gen

 

2016 here. 189k miles. Zero issues. Extended warranties are scams. 'They are all perfect', indeed.

2016 Limited. 42k miles (tis why I picked it) No issues in the two days I’ve had.
