    I've heard of people actually getting slightly better MPG as their tune is better than factory and maybe the system is more efficient. Of course it's worse if you gas it more.

    I've read the same thing. Most I've heard is mileage goes up maybe 1 mpg. That's if you drive in a way that you're not mashing the skinny pedal all the time. I fully expect to see maybe 10 mpg the forst week or two I have it. After that I should do well just driving normal.

    Complicated answer but in short with this type of scenario of stock naturally aspirated engine which won't be modified then definitely 100% yes.

    Edit: for how anyone would tune it or the basic tunes you will get with the kit, anything but premium will harm your engine.

    Reviving an old thread. I just placed an order for the Magnuson S/C myself as well. Has anyone or know of anyone who has actually upgraded to a smaller pulley on the new TVS1320 supercharger? Is it even possible with the way these are built with the support bearing for the input shaft

    I am also curious but have been unable to find any replacement. I reached out to URD previously and they told me they feel the blower is maxed out already and they had no plans to make upgraded pulleys. I hope that has changed and would open up possibility for more power.

    @jdm-v35 Do you have a Supercharger installed already? I know OTT and Yotawerx have released new tunes. Yotawerx is the highest with 318HP/370TQ. Which I'll plan to do but wouldn't do it without upgrading the fuel pump. Would help more when I upgrade to 35's.

    I have had the supercharger in for about 2 years now. I have been running the yotawerx tune and was one of their testers through the development process. The tune really helped wake it up in both power and throttle response especially in the low end. I would highly recommend their tune and they provide great support. I don't think the fuel pump upgrade is necessary as I am still running pretty rich(its a safe tune). I have quite a bit of weight and even with the supercharger I would say with 35's i would still regear. Even on 285's I still get downshifting when climbing mountains at altitude.

    I don't daily the 4runner but it makes it much more enjoyable to drive it when i do.

    I see, well that will be my next move then. I know OTT highly recommended an upgraded fuel pump for their new tune but I don't see anyone running it. Glad to get your feedback with the Yotawerx tune though. Yeah I'm definitely going to regear when going to 35's, just debating 4.56 vs 4.88 since I daily drive mine and people say 4.88 might run your RPM's too high for daily highway driving. Any vehicle you'd compare the power with now that you're boosted? Trying to see what I can expect

    Hard to compare with anything but id say it feels very similar to when I test drove a gmc sierra a few years ago. It is decently faster than my friends jeep with the 3.6 on 37's. i really only drive it up in the mountains for camping etc. I drive my daily for more fun/faster drives and better mpg.

    Given a choice, if I was to supercharge mine, I'd go with the Procharger instead of the Magnuson. Less parts, easier to install (don't have to remove the intake manifold or wire up a cooler pump, among other things), should get the same results power-wise. I'm sure installing either one will definitely void the factory warranty though, so it's on the backburner for now.

    I’ve been running mine for 22k miles now. It’s nice to have more than 300 hp on a heavy truck. I’m happy with it. It’s not fast but it’s faster which is nice.

    I had an 01 Tacoma that I got a smaller pulley. But that was Manual transmission. I’m hesitating on mods with AT.

    What's the pro-con of Magnusen vs. Procharger? Saw some YouTube vids but they're all selling. Procharger actually more expensive than Mag! Wow.

    I'll share a little insight I've not seen mentioned. I installed a Magnuson myself this past summer on a new 23 with 400 miles on it. I've since put an additional 6k on it with the Maggy. I have no regrets but there is one issue I have to take care of this next summer.

    My Victory Blitz front bumper install went fine except I could not install my warn winch due to clearance issues. The inlet to the inter-cooler sticks out too far. It will be easy enough to get the hose barb pointed in a slightly different direction by a professional welder but it's something to keep in mind if you also plan on installing a winch.IMG_1864.jpg 2A.jpg

    Here's a couple pics showing the inlet on the inter-cooler. It needs to be re-welded to either point upward or be moved to the side. This will allow me to relocate the inter-cooler pump making room for the winch.

    Based on the extensive research I've done regarding the prochargers across the forums and multiple facebook groups, I can't find a single person who has had a good experience with the procharger. Everyone knows Nate Drives on IG/Youtube who is doing the 2JZ swap who blew his motor, another guy had his pulley break and also tanked his transmission. Saw another blown motor from another guy on IG. I have yet to see anyone who has had any kind of issue with the Magnuson, that's even after Yotawerx or OTT has come out with new tunes for more power. I'll take the reliability of Magnuson all day. Plus, with the procharger kit, you need to keep changing the oil every 5K miles. Not trying to bash prochargers but doesn't seem like a good application for our 4Runner platform.

    I saw one of your old posts where you raced the V8 F-150 and you also mentioned how the 4Runner is now as fast if not faster than your V8 Silverado. That was pretty exciting to hear. Obviously I didn't plan on making this some kind of race car with the Magnuson, but to know how "fast" it is now is great to hear. I also plan to regear so I imagine it'll be decently quick.

    It's much faster than the stock engine for sure. Just don't expect it to feel outright Faaaaast. It feels exactly like an OEM engine that has the kind of HP and TQ it should have had from the factory in 2023. It is way better holding hills, getting up to speed quickly on the on ramp and passing is way better.

    It was offered by Toyota for the 4Runners and FJ Cruisers and I can see why. If you keep your foot out of it, it drives very sedate and your grandmother could drive it. That and the extreme reliability of the blower on these engines.

    Exactly, which is what I'm expecting. I'm not expecting to be put back in my seat but overall quicker to get up to speed, passing etc. The most common theme I've seen is that "it drives exactly how it should have come from factory." But hey, as much power as a V8 truck? I'll take it. So with the reliability and capability, huge plus. I'll maybe end up doing the Yotawerx tune which puts it at 318WHP/370WTQ. Based on the testers for that tune, still seems like it's a pretty reliable tune without needing to upgrade the fuel pump either.

    They aren't cheap but much easier and cheaper than an engine swap and far, far better results than trying to chase a few HP with intakes and exhausts.

    I think either the Yotawerx or OTT tunes would be a great upgrade. As far as I know, neither requires an upgraded fuel pump. Just be sure to keep the supplied by Magnuson, OBDII port cover in place. Make sure if your 4Runner is ever in for service that they DO NOT do any kind of reflash.

    I traded in a '22 Ford Explorer ST, which had the Ecoboost 3.0 twin-turbo V6, rated at 400 hp and 415 ft-lbs of torque. I added a 93 octane tune, and a full-size Steeda intercooler, which was good for an additional 90 hp and 50 ft-lbs of torque. That ST would push you back into your seat, and with the 10-speed automatic trans, I would consistently get over 30 mpg on road trips. It had no problems maintaining speed going over hills and bridges, where my '23 Limited would immediately start to slow down. Do I miss the extra 200+ hp and torque of the ST? Yup. Am I willing to spend $8K+ for a supercharger and installation on the 4R? Nope, I'll adjust my driving style and take it for what it is. Ten years from now I know the 4R will still be on the road, the ST not so sure...

    I certainly can't speak to a 3.0 twin turbo with a tune. But, there's plenty of people who waited till 50k or 100k before installing a Magnuson and have put another 100k on their 4Runners that are still going strong. That's actually a big reason I decided to gat the Magnuson.

    I know a couple long term reviewers have said eventually the blower belt pulley needed to be replaced and I plan on getting a couple along with a couple spare belts. I plan to keep this Toyota a long time.

    The expense of the Maggy is the biggest drawback for sure. Mine shipped to me was 8k including the tax and shipping. For me that was the extant of the cost as I did the install myself.

    Since it is such an expensive mod, not many people have it and the ones that do only type up reviews. The very few videos that are up don't show an extensive view of what it's like. I might make a longer YouTube video highlighting what it's truly like, maybe it'll convince/hinder people from buying it. Just an overall real world review.
