Transmission Pan drop/filter replacement

I dropped the transmission pan and replaced the gasket as well as the transmission filter. Mileage is 102,075.

No issues, everything looked good. I had done one prior drain and fill at 70k.

Is there any step by step diy on this and trans fluid change as well?

 

There should be. About the same procedure as on my 2010 tacoma.

 

Why though? Just wanted to see how it looked in there?

 

He replaced the filter. Used to be part of regular maintenance.

Back when manufacturers weren't pushing you to buy a new car every 5 years.

 

No need to drop the pan on these at all. Rust belt owners risk snapping off bolts. Drain and refill.

 

The filter does need to be serviced and the rust belt people should get the undercoating AND use a sprayer to neutralize the salt.

Good info to know/see, so I wont drop my pan at 100k, ill just drain and fill if its that clean at 102k.

 

Yes, really overkill at 100k. I'd do a few drain and fills and probably wait until 200k

 

It was never serviced if drained and filled regular. Unnecessary. This is a Toyota and not a Dodges or Ford. You can change fluid to early and ruin transmission too. I changed mine at 192k and it's fine. I guess these pans don't have FIPG but a gasket now.
