So help me out here. Searching not finding good answer.

Looking at old man emu lift for 4runner.
Many years ago had ome lift on FJ cruiser and was very satisfied.

No aftermarket bumpers or winches going on, no roof rack.

    Plan on 285s (Firestone destinations).

so issue is looking at several reputable sellers (yotamafia, toytec, mudify, DPG).

One recommends 884 front and 895e rear (mudify) for 2” lift.

another 884 front and 889 rear (both toytec and yotamafia)

and yet another one 885 front 895 rear. mudify for higher 2.5” lift.

And finally 884 front 895 rear. (DPG)

Now it seems as the 895e rear may cause a little negative rake, which I do not want at all of that is the case.

    anyway, trying make good choices.

On my older FJ cruiser I had 885/895 but of course a different vehicle.

    appreciate the feedback.

For my 5th gen 4runner 884 in front gave me about 2.5in lift & 889 rear about 2in lift. I had them with OME Nitro Sport shocks. They are hard working shocks even for little fun. But if you are looking for soft on road comfort, forget it. Go with OME BP51 setup or on the entry level look for Bilstien5100 with stock springs in front and a spacer on top of rear stock springs. Or you can go with aftermarket springs depending on the lift you want in rear.

I came to this similar dilemma a few years ago and decided to go with the 2in Icon rear springs. Why? When you look at the specs on all of other sites, they all seem to use the same specs for the 2in coils - I think mudify calls them medium, and so is shocksurplus. I even think Dobinson uses the same specs but they just have a different color. I went with the 2in because they gave me a little positive rake in the back and I even tested it with 300 lbs of stuff / before and after just to make sure. I did go with the BP51 setup - front and back. Seems to be doing fine. Good luck.

I notice that Yotamafia is selling a set up OME 884 spring in front, 889 spring in rear. But instead of OME shocks they are paired up with Blistein 1500 shocks. Any advantages or disadvantages setting it up this way instead of the OME shocks with OME springs?

I used to run the Bilstein 1500 with the 2in Icon rear spring, that is what I put on my first picture. I don't recommend you stick with any of the OEM parts or combinations thereof. The springs are about 250 bucks, you might as well upgrade this and you will notice you won't have a negative rake in the back. There is a difference in the springs between OEM and the 2in so I would recommend at least the springs. You are in the vicinity and removing parts you might as well do it while you can. I can't comment on the 884 front parts, but anything there is better than stock. Good luck.

Not interested in OEM, interested in feedback on correct OME (old man emu) shocks and Springs. Thank you.

Thinking 884 front and 895 rear paired with OME 90016 front and 60086 softer valves shocks may be the way to go.

895e may cause a bit of negative rake, sit only level when nothing in the back? 885 front May raise the front too much? 889 in rear May raise rear a bit too much? Many seem offering the ome kits with 90010/60080 regular valves shocks, but think the before mentioned softer valve shocks will give better on road ride.

Anyone else as well add the OME 5mm trim packer to drivers right side? I did that with my FJ cruiser, seemed to correct bit of the lean. 4runner is the same?

So anyone use the old man emu softer valve shocks instead of standard shocks?

Because OME does not recommend those shocks, they are not valved for the springs. The softer valved shocks are for older prados. Some like to mix and match. I think it is always best to go with the manufactures recommendations.

I’ve not yet bought, waiting on a check coming in, but will probably go with what OME recommends 884 front/895 rear with standard valved shocks. And that is what the OME technical advisor uses on his 4 runner.

Very nice. Keep me updated! I’ll be curious to see your lift height afterward

I may be moving from the 887/ 889 to 885/ 895. Should lower it a touch and still be able to handle the extra weight up front. (Winch/ bumper/ Steel skids)
Hoping to lower it about a half inch or so and maybe it will ride a little smoother.

    Sound right @4runnerboxer ?

Edit: Currently sitting at +3.5" Front, + 2.75" Rear
