Spacer lift issue?

hey do you guys think this is installed correctly? i had a shop install a 2-1 inch leveling lift on my 23 limited last month i just took a look at the strut today and i see this. i am coming from audis and mustangs and this is my first toyota 4runner. ride wise it feels fine but it looks like the spacer is squished?

 

Spacer looks rotated IMHO and thats what is causing the squished look. Maybe when they torqued things down it rotated or they didnt carefully align it right before torque. My 2 cents.

 

Yup. The head of the stud above that rubber isolator should line up with the little nub in the middle of the notch on the top of the isolator, but at least they got it somewhat close. I don't think it really matters all that much.

I had a shop do my Tacoma front shocks, and the stud heads were nowhere near the notches in the rubber isolator. I fixed it myself.

 

thanks guys looking at the passenger side it looks good i paid 400 for labor to install this i think i will take it back for them to fix the drivers side.

 

That's the way it should look- make them fix it.

 

The spacer is the shiny metal "puck". The rubber piece is an isolator or gasket etc. In the first pic the rubber piece is deformed because of the position/ rotation of the spring.

 

i called them and havent heard back yet. long term is this going to become an issue? i dont hear any noises. if they do fix it would that mean i would need to get another alignment? thanks everyone.

 

I'm no mechanic but I can't see how it would affect anything. I also can't see how it would affect your alignment either keeping it that way or fixing it. They would need to rotate the spring is all (and rotate the isolator counter clockwise to center it). I don't know if they could do that with the strut installed.

 

The one rubber isolator I told you was installed incorrectly was on my Tacoma like that for over a year with no issues. I only fixed it because I was doing some other suspension work, and my ocd wouldn't allow me to leave it alone...I don't think yours will make a difference if left. I believe if they have to remove the shock again, another alignment may be necessary.

 

thanks man yeah i think i will just leave it. im not getting any sounds or clunks and it drives straight and no weird vibrations its just every time i think about it i get a little crazy. you would think people would take pride in their work and do the job with properly.
