only drove it 10 miles or so. seems really nice. need to get an alignment Monday.

 

jetspd, the unit came with a mic that was installed by the gauge cluster. I never used the Mic before : )

 

From their install video there’s a bolt that’s very close to the cv boot.
is it the same on yours? I’m interested in these but I’d want to make sure the bolt doesnt cause damages during articulation

What is strange however is the spacers. The kit comes with two 3/4" spacers per side. I installed with the spacers and the bolts weren't long enough, and the skids hung down about 3/4" too low, and didn't line up with the factory skid. I ditched the spacers and everything installed and looked like how it should be. Weird as every install video uses the spacers but my install definitely did not need them.

I emailed runnin 4 tacos out of curiosity so we'll see what they say. I like em' though!

Can you just trim the bolt? Save 200$?

 

May be @semprenissart got the wrong bolt? My Rago ones came with a shorter bolt out side.

Personally I don't like the longer bolts in side. Is there a easy way to cut them of with cheap hand tools? For now I have them painted black so its not ugly.

If your going to take it apart to do the bolt trimming, perfect tool I use is little 12V Milwaukee Bandsaw. Electricians use cordless bandsaws a lot, clean cuts no sparks. Not a cheap hand tool but iunno if there is a cheap hand tool that cuts that

 

Installed the RIGd rear camera relocation kit today now that the spare blocks the camera. Instructions were not super clear about how to clear the rear window when it rolls down - luckily I partially rolled it down and found it was in the way. I got it out of the way now but feel like something is still getting rubbed - hopefully it doesn’t eventually rub through the wires.

Up next tomorrow - installing the anytime front/rear camera kit, new front camera, and the rago dash mount I got from another member while I've got the trim off!

 

Decided to go saddle blanket with the seat covers (partial, didn’t want too much saddle blanket haha) from ShearComfort. Got them installed last night. I feel pretty good about them! I like the look, the white/cream strips looks good with black and lunar rock. The fit is nice, maybe like a 95% fit if I had to give it a score. Definitely feel like the fabric seats will be protected for the long haul.

only downside is that shearcomfort claims the patterns are too complex to have holes for the head rests..(they make sewn out holes for literally everything else in these..) so you have to cut them yourself.

 

That’s what I would do if it came like this. I was surprised to see that but maybe they fixed the issue since @PVT Pablo does’t have this problem

i don’t have LCA skids. I was looking to get some and noticed this. The picture I posted is a screenshot from the install video of R4T

 

@kmeeg and @djwantke A cheap and easy hand tool for cutting bolts is a hack saw and elbow grease. Followed by finishing / dressing the bolt threads with a bastard file and some more elbow grease. These tools should be in your basic tool box. Hack saw and small selection of blades.

 

Or just go to the hardware store and get a shorter bolt.

Running on Fumes!

Today, I was driving from my home in Georgia to Panama City Beach, Fl. I have always been one to push the limit on fuel mileage. I usually wait until the “Low Fuel” warning light comes on before stopping to fill up. Prior to today, the most fuel I have ever been able to squeeze into the tank is about 22 gallons. Today, it was 23.590 gallons. I must have really been on fumes.

 

That is wildly impressive. I've never gotten over 22!

 

Yikes! I hate getting that low.

This guy trying to take the piss outta me cuz I recommend using a $200 (CAD) power tool. Ain't no stranger to elbow grease where I'm from in Canada

 

I've done the hacksaw and file thing more than a few times. It always makes me nervous because I don't feel certain that I'll end up with a functioning thread, but with the help of sacrificial nut, I usually do.

Pondering the operation reminds me of a few universal truths. The blade currently in your hacksaw is always too dull already. You never have enough spare blades on hand. Even a fresh blade will be dull before you're finished. The last third of the bolt takes twice as long as the first two thirds put together.

 

I have the same kinda covers, but mine are from coverking…so probably similar in design/fabric

been in my truck for almost 6 years

before I installed i scotchguarded the hell outta them

n I was worried bout the “saddle”texture dimpling the softex so I put thin silicone sheets under the butt part

overthinking? Sure but food for thought
