Hi everyone! I’ve searched for how to make the chirp louder when I lock my vehicle. I don’t have the head unit with settings to adjustment for it. I don’t have a key fob with opening rear window button. I see most looking for how to turn off the chirp. (?). But, I really need to hear it when I lock it. Does anyone know if the piezo chirp can be wired to the horns or connected to a car alarm horn?

Does anyone know if connecting a 12v 20w alarm horn to the piezo speaker is possible? I need to trust but verify my vehicle is locked by hearing it. The piezo is a joke for a vehicle which is "old school" like The Car Care Nut says.

If I had a howitzer with unlimited ammo, and every time I heard one of those things... Eventually I could get rid of all of them.

This is what I do - I stand at my vehicle door and lock it with my key, and I can hear when the doors lock.

Of course, all those push button start trucks and cars are just going to keep a watch out for my howitzer... :hattip:

    That's an interesting POV.

Addressing your issue - are you saying that you don't like the tone of the locking sound, but still want a sound?

If so, and your currents lineup, that would work.

I have a neighbor - (RIGHT next door) that has several Toyotas, and they all sound the same. To unlock, it is not enough for her to hit the unlock button on her remote once, or twice, but THREE times at all hours of the day and especially in the middle of the night. So my Howitzer is always pointed that way. :)eek: IF I had one...).

For me, I don't want a sound. It is not necessary because the head and tail lights blink with the activation of the locks.

With carista you can change how loud the sound is when locking/unlocking or completely remove the sound

Does doing it with Carista sidestep the bug that sometimes bricks the fob?

Interesting. Didn’t know about this bug. Also didn’t know that we could change the sound of the lock directly through the car settings.
I’ve muted mine about a year ago with carista while I was using the app to change other settings and never had a problem with the key fob. Now to say it’s because of carista is not necessarily true. It could be but it also could be that my fob doesn’t have this bug (yet?)

Howitzer? That's funny (not). And, stupid. I'm under the inpression this forum is for serious persons who can help. If 2Toys actually had a Howitzer, he'd probably shoot himself in the foot. And, as the thread is named, Icyhotahs, I'm asking in this forum if the piezo speaker which chirps when locking or unlocking the doors, can be made louder. Does anyonone know if it is possible to connect it to a 12v car alarm speaker? Carista is intersting but, at $39.99 + a Subscription fee, isn't my solution. Thanks, semprenissart

That's funny (not). Lighten up. No one's making any trips to the Howitzer store.

I'm with @2Toys - I don't hear all that well, and use the blinking lights as confirmation of locked.

I also have a next door neighbor that does the multiple fob lock thing every single time, and it's very annoying.

As for increasing the chirp volume, I haven't heard of that, but someone may chime (chirp) in. :)

4R chirp is pretty lame. So I look at the vehicle for confirmation. Its usually not a problem 90% of the time since I touch the door handle to lock my 4R, and since I am right next to vehicle I can hear it.

You don’t have to keep the subscription to keep your settings. It’s only if you want to change them. Check if there are other things you’d want to change and all you need is pay the $40 one time fee to get the dongle and you can change whatever you want for a month then cancel the subscription and keep the dongle in a safe place. I haven’t needed to use mine after I did what I wanted the first time.

Also make sure you check what you can change for your model year, but I think all 5th gen are (almost) all the same.

Maybe try hearing aids? Would be easer than rewiring and looking for piezo speaker amplification.

Joking aside I too want to always have confirmation my doors are locked. That's why I purchased an alarm with 2 way remote so i can check if its locked from anywhere, even with my phone app thousands of miles away and not annoy my neighbors.

Compustar T13. Has ~2mi range on the fob and infinite range with the app.
