I'm definitely getting antsy I already had a little bit of trepidation about there ability to match the paint and then obviously the concerns over shipping the thing but it keeps getting delayed so far they've pushed my date twice for a total I think of six or seven days they keep saying it's quality control issues. If they can match it and everything comes through and I'm fine with the weight but if this starts to get out of hand or it comes and doesn't match I will be highly disappointed

Did you buy their "OEM" or "Aftermarket" version? Looks like just a little under $200 difference.

Their pricing is insanely high. You can buy an OEM hood directly from your Toyota dealer for about $350-$400. Your local auto paint store will probably charge another $300-$500 to paint it for you. Revmoto is $1400 for their OEM hood. Just my two cents.

I don't know where you live but not even close around here Toyota dealers won't part with that hood for less than 7 to 800 admittingly telling you they're overcharging and to have a shop painted around here was pretty much the same price plus you'd be without the vehicle for several weeks for them to match and blend

Sorry, I didn't intentionally want it to come off as argumentative. Just trying to educate on other potential solutions. The Revomoto hood will more than likely be a quality paint job and OEM hood. Keep us posted on the progress.

What is a "scoop hood" and what does it do?

I’m just dumb enough to not be able to tell if you’re being serious or sarcastic.
    Flat hood.
    14A1A37A-887D-4EB2-89FA-5AE487E0A7B5.png
Scoop hood (or, more accurately, bulge hood.)
    1AAF369C-B23B-4A37-9A5B-4129A9BC7214.png
It has no functional benefit. There is no opening in the fake scoop. It looks sporty. That’s it. Some will complain that the bulge will cast a nasty sun reflection into the driver’s eyes in the right circumstances.

So it's a cold air intake from the top of the hood? Mine doesn't have that. Do you get more horsepower with the cold air and if so, how much?

No no, there are no benefits. It is just styling. It's not even an open hole in the scoop to let air in.

I don't think I've noticed them before. And there is no hole to let in cooler air? And people prefer this to the normal clean hood?

It is the normal hood on some trim lines. It's not an option, so people resort to swaps and mods to not have it.

    Go figure.

The concept of a fake air inlet just for looks is not new. I remember as a 14-year-old discovering that the hood scoops on a Formula 400 Firebird were fake.

The practice may go back even further. But that was just the beginning of a long line of shocking events in a lifetime of disillusionment. For example, I went on to be devastated when I learned that Camaros and Firebirds were basically the same cars with slightly different bodywork. Crushed when I learned that the athletes on professional sports teams didn’t grow up in the towns that their teams represented. Outraged when I found out that cable tv has commercials, and that I was paying for them. I better go lie down.

Oh I see, yeah, people want to get rid of it and just have the normal clean flat hood. These fake add-ons have been around forever: fake alloy wheel hubcaps over black steel wheels, fake woodgrain on the interior and ridiculous rear wings on non-performance cars that do nothing except increase drag and reduce mileage. Thanks for the clarification.

    Unbelievable.

I also heard that Stellantis will use fake internal combustion engine exhaust sounds on next year's Dodge Charger and Challenger as those will be entirely electric.

    https://www.thedrive.com/news/dodge...ust-didnt-sound-good-because-its-not-done-ceo

As if vehicles need to make exhaust sounds even when there is no exhaust. We'll see how long that lasts.
