Hey guys, new member here! So a few months back my 4Runner suddenly started lurching while I was driving and then ended up turning off. Got it towed home and go it to start a few times after but not for long. Now it won’t start at all. She’s getting fuel but you could smell unburnt fuel on the old plugs. Replaced coil packs, plugs, wires. Still won’t start. Battery is good, alternator tested good as well. Not sure where else I should look now, hoping someone has some info to help me out.

Well, it won’t run if there is a leak in the intake duct from the air-cleaner start there.

No leak, did a smoke test as well when I first got it home. Forgot to add that in the post, my apologies

You've replaced the ignition wires, .., etc. Have you confirmed that you get sparks? Any codes from the OBD?

That's weird. If you have spark, I believe the ECU has all the inputs it needs and is trying to start the car.

I'm thinking you need to check spark on all plugs.

For spark? Seems like plugs that you say are wet with fuel are not be getting spark.

Those were the original plugs that I pulled. I used a spark tester before replacing my coil packs, one was slower than the other two and after I replaced them now they’re all on par

If you're getting both fuel and spark and there are no codes, I am then baffled as to why engine does not even start. This may sound stupid but I'll ask anyway. Are the plug wire connections correct?

Air, fuel, and spark are the easy things to check. Then you have the crank and cam sensors. Also, double check that timing belt hasn’t lost teeth, stretched, or jumped timing. If all of that checks out, then it’s off to check valves, ecu, injectors, etc.

Cam sensor good, checked that this morning. Crank sensor is stuck so I’m gonna pull the front clip to check the timing and shit so I’ll check that then as well.

Compression is good, have a note somewhere with the numbers but everything at least hit the minimum
