    Hello,

So my wife is driving and I don't have the manual on me and the kids are bitching about not being able to charge their phones from the rear center console usb outlets at the bottom.

This is a new car so I'm wondering why there are not working. Is there way to power them, like a switch I'm missing or something?

    Thanks!

No switch. Could be that the port is not supplying enough power. I swapped mine out for a higher powered USB C since the stock USB A was limited to 2.1A and wouldn’t charge my kids’ devices

Using OEM USB C? If so what part number?
    Thanks

I couldn’t find part numbers from Toyota. I used this though: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004758559831.html

The part number on that AliExpress item was very similar to the one that I pulled out of my vehicle

I can't see how it won't charge a phone. Something is off then because it's the news standard USB c port too.

According to the 2023 manual, it won't charge some devices unless they're powered on. I haven't used the ones in back yet myself.

But it's up to 2.1 amps so it should charge your standard phones. Try it and let me know if yours works.

On my 22 it charges just fine. Might sound stupid but have you tried using the same cable somewhere else to make sure it’s not the cable that’s defective?

if not, bring back to dealership, it’s definitely not normal

As long as the ignition is on, it charges my phone, regardless of whether the phone is on or off.

I'll try to troubleshoot when I get home and get a minute but we did try using the same cord that we were using fine up on the dashboard usb ports.

The center console cigarette power supply works fine, so I am using am after market power port station from there instead.

I think these USB ports on the back of the center console are so low that I'm worried the back passengers will kick them in and bend any cable leads back there that are plugged in anyway, but I digress on that engineering snafu.

However, they should work right away. I just thought maybe there was a switch or something I was missing.

Correct, no switch. If you’ve tried with working cables while the 4R was on and it didn’t work as soon as you connected the cable then something is wrong
