Hey guys, I am in the market for a 5th get 4runner. I have found a TRD Pro which is the model that I want, that or an sr5 premium or trail premium. I have found a 2017 TRD Pro it has 135,xxx miles on it and the dealership is asking $29,000. Does this sound like a good deal? And, is there anything I should look out for on it?

    Welcome.

If your budget allows it, I’d go for a newer and low mileage SR5 or off-road.

That is a horrible deal. Keep looking. Unless you have your heart set on a Pro, I would get an off-road.

    Welcome to the forum!

If you’re set on it, I would offer $22 to see what they say…

Pro owner here. Unless you really want the color, and a few other nice-to-haves, I'd recommend the SR5 Premium over the Pro.

I'm not sure what 2017 TRD Pro has.

Does it have JBL? It's very nice to have probably the only thing worth for me. But the way I use it the speakers might be done in few years. So check on that.

Does it have TRD Bilstein shocks? They are most likely done by now so it might not worth much. IMO these offroad focus high pressure shocks may not last as low pressure Tokico shocks.

2017 TRD Pro not have moonroof right? That's a plus. My moonroof leaked and fixed under warranty.

2017 TRD Pro has dual automatic climate control? When they get old it might give problems vs fully manually control system. 99% of the time I manually control my dual zone automatic climate control as its not like home thermostat you set it and forget.

Does 2017 TRD Pro has automatic headlights? This is something I like to have been lazy to turn off the lights.

Buying used I much prefer non TRD Pro non KDSS non XREAS model and install new suspension, tires, protection the way I want. I would look at aftermarket sound system like OEM Audio plus or Tacotunes that fit the 4Runner if you are a music lover.

(Non TRD Pro = Something like TRD Offroad if you want all the Offroad tech TRD Pro has. Or SR5 with more carry capacity than TRD models and easily add aftermarket lockers (including front locker) which will make it better than TRD Pro. You can do the same if you buy Limited for the full-time 4wd but I would just throw the XREAS and get new suspension if I take it off pavement. )

Anyone think I'm wrong feel free to share. I respectfully listen.

First question ... will you be modding the vehicle ... if so I don't think the extra for the pro is worth it as you'll probably be changing out what the upgrades you were paying for were.

I can't speak for the models that got the updated infotainment (2019+?) but the 2015/6/7/8 does not have auto climate, does have auto headlights, not sure about the moonroof, pretty sure 17 does, 16 definitely does not. JBL was not on option as far as I'm aware on the 16s, not sure about 17.

I have 100k on my stock bilsteins (with a 2 inch spacer all around for 95k of that) and I inspected them yesterday and they look great.

Just throwing some info out there!
